Hi, My Name is Ally.

I am old enough to have taught for over 30 years.

I live near the South Coast of England

I have one daughter, who likes the Chalet School books and is planning on introducing them to her daughter soon. My Husband finds the language in the books 'a hoot' I have two cats and two dogs.

I can not limit my favourite book and character, as I love them all. However, least favourite: Well, now I have discovered some of the unabridged versions, I have to say the Armada versions of my new copies. They are now like reading an abridged version of Harry Potter with no mentioned of magic.

I bought my first Chalet School book in 1968 with birthday money, costing 2/6. I have been collecting ever since and had only 5 to collect. I just hope it does not take as long to collect the unabridged GGB editions.............

I found the CBB by putting in 'Chalet School' on a search engine and have found I am not alone!............

I also found out just today that my mother had 'six or so' Chalet School books in the 1930's. Keep it in the family I say!

Hello All!

Thank you for the lovely welcome!

In answer to a question:

I am hoping at some point my daughter may join. However, she is currently 'off-line' due to a major computer catastrophe. She needs to replace the entire system. Which, she informs me "Will take some time." Could that possible be a subtle hint?

Welcome to the CBB AllyB. I didn't manage to get my daughter interested in the books. If fact she didn't like any of the boarding school type of book.

Hello AllyB - must say that your name made me wonder if you were Scottish because of one of my favourite folk-type songs, Coulters Candy.

Welcome in any case :)
