Sorry, I couldn't resist using the pretty Tirolean greeting on people who would understand!

Name: Meg

Age (ish!): 32 (ish!)

Location (approximate - no actual address, please!): Oxfordshire

SLOCs/children/pets/imaginary friends: I have a husband, three children (a son who's five, and two daughters, one aged two and another who is three months. We also have a hamster called Mavis and two rabbits, though I can't think that I'll be posting about them much.

Favourite and least favourite books and characters: I have just read Redheads for the first time and loved it, what a hoot! Exile is great too and Rivals was a recent read that I also enjoyed (the Chalet girls taking their lead from the Ku Klux Klan!!). Least favourite? I found Three Go a bit bitty and strange. I'm not a big fan of juniors!
I like Daisy, particularly as she grows up, I like a good solid dependable girl. I always found Frieda appealing too. Not a fan of Grizel or Simone in the early days, or Joey once she produces her long family and keeps turning up and reducing all around to fits of laughter or striking them dumb with her sagacity whilst not seeming particularly funny or wise to the reader (at least, not this reader).

How you got into the Chalet School: as an adult - I found a "three in one" of Exile, At war, and Highland Twins in a charity shop on honeymoon and ate them up. I've been scouring the charity shops since and have a neat little collection but much reading pleasure to come.

How you found the CBB: I googled Joey Bettany after thinking that someone else out there must want to chat about Chalet books as much as I do...turns out you do! I have lurked on and off since, but after reading Redheads I decided I need to join and spare my long suffering husband my Chalet related diatribes.

I still don't know what CBB stands for though!

That's me anyway, hope you'll have me! Is there anywhere I can get some coffee round here?

Welcome, Meg! CBB = Chalet Bulletin Board (correct me if I'm wrong, someone) and there is a LOT of coffee in Rose Garden at the moment, courtesy of the newly established Tri(multi)lingual thread in English Tea...(spammers, they come, they go, they try to sell us kitchens - and now slimming coffee).

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it here. It is always nice to meet fellow enthusiasts, especially about such a niche subject...

Hi Meg and welcome.

I always thought it was Chaletian Bulletin Board, but I'm also open to correction. :D

Just to clarify: I take it from the context that you found Frieda appealing, not appalling?  Don't worry. Everyone commits typos on here. And no one will take offence if for some reason you really don't like Frieda.

I live just down the M40 from you in Gerrards Cross.

Welcome to the CBB!

Welcome - actually Cal is a little bit wrong. I might take exception if you find Frieda appalling rather than appealing. I even did a whole drabble about her once. :D

But I do so agree about Three Go.....

Enjoy your unlurked status.

Welcome, PeggyPea, or may I call you Meg? We're a friendly lot so have fun! And I do agree about Joey, she could be a totally irritating pain in the rear and in real life they would have the fence between Freudesheim and the School electrified to keep the annoying besom out!

Welcome :)
Three Go is actually one of my favourites but I'm prepared to overlook it just this once :)

Gosh yes, I did mean appealing! Poor Frieda, I would hate to bring distress to her apple-blossom colouring! I will go and correct.

Thanks for the welcome :) I'm glad to find someone who agrees with me on Three Go, and someone willing to overlook our differences...sounds like a recipe for web harmony!

Hi PeggyPea welcome to the CBB whatever it stands for. It has absolutely nothing to do with the children's TV channel or celebrity Big Brother.

Nice to meet you from another Oxfordshire resident.

When you've been posting enough to join the kaffee and kuchen, we have an Oxfordshire and nearby meet up group too, if you want to meet, eat and chat to random CBB people in person - though saying that it's rarely actually much about CBB now that we chat.

Enjoy delurkifying :-)
