Name: crm

Age (ish!): late twenties

Location (approximate - no actual address, please!): London

SLOCs/children/pets/imaginary friends: One very lovely girlfriend/two year old son (NB also very lovely)/step-cats and -chickens :D /assorted interesting people to hang out with during my commute.

Favourite and least favourite books and characters:
Books - favourites are Gay, Goes To It, Exile, Lintons, Camp. Un-favourites would definitely include Challenge, Excitements, all the holiday books, Eustacia. Redheads and Althea are both kind of brilliant in a surreal way.
Characters - Nell Wilson and Grizel Cochrane, above all others. Also Rosalie Dene, Cornelia Flower, Evadne Lannis, Madge (especially when she's still Madge Bettany)... There are probably others I've missed... I have a fondness for the unfairly-maligned ones: Sybil Russell, Pam Slater.
I'm not fond of Joey, as an adult or as a child (and indeed was not keen on her even when I was a child, which I think is less usual). I don't like Jack Lambert, or Jack Maynard for that matter. Peggy Bettany and Len Maynard are both nice enough but kind of boring.

How you got into the Chalet School: My first (the Trials/Theodora 2-in-1, of all uninspiring volumes!) was a Christmas present when I was about 9, from my grandmother - from whom I then borrowed a number of the books, mostly in no sensible order. Then, much more recently, I discovered that they made perfect 'recovery' comfort reading when I was doing my (completely unrelated) Masters...

How you found the CBB: I actually can't remember, it was such a while ago. I must have been googling something CS-related but can't think what. I definitely resolved that I would not be registering and devoting any more of my time to the life-leeching internet, but, erm, well.

Hello!

Hello! I am pretty sure my first CS book was that same 2 in 1 volume! :D

And another Grizel fan - I like you already!

Was that the one whose cover was the paperback cover of Head Girl? That was my third CS and I found the cover confusing - had no idea which scene it was supposed to represent!

Edited typo

It has an orange spine and a picture of girls and flames?

:D That was mine! I was very confused by that cover until I found out - years later - that it was taken from a different book entirely. (Why did they do that? I mean, I know the Armada paperbacks managed an impressive array of odd cover art, but using a scene from a completely different story just seems a strange thing to do even still.)
