Thanks for the welcome, tartan-belle and Mary! :)

Similar to me. I grew up in Halifax, went to Uni in Sheffield (did you by any chance?). But then I moved to the 'wrong' side of the Pennines because I was offered a job here.

But I'm still a Yorkshire lass through and through. :D

Thanks for the welcome, Oscar and ronaele!

I'm really happy you enjoyed the drabbles, ronaele--thank you! :D

Cal, I did indeed go to uni in Sheffield. There seems to be quite a collection of Yorkshire lasses on here :D

What did you study Chattie and Rietta and when? I studied Russian in the late 70s, Maybe we should organise a gather for Sheffield Uni alumni? :D

Thank you for the welcome, Chris and chattie!

I studied English and History, and graduated about three years ago. A Sheffield alumni gather could be fun! :D

Welcome to the board Rietta! Sorry for the late welcome, I'm not as active as most here as I've only read 7 of the books but am slowly catching up! Enjoy yourself :)

Welcome!

I don't suppose you could refresh my memory of that last Nell sentence? I've read hardback Gay but don't own it and really curious now! Thanks!

Hope you enjoy the Board :)

Thank you! I'm certainly enjoying it so far. :D

The last Nell sentence:
"If I had lost her, I suppose I could have gone on somehow; but I'd always have felt that part of me was dead."

I first read Gay in paperback, and loved it eternally for the mere fact that Nell openly says she loves Hilda. But that last sentence? If that's not an admission of soulmates, I don't know what is.
