Hi everyone, thought I'd finally introduce myself

Name: Jo (short for Joelaine, not Josephine). Actually, till I went to secondary school I was called by middle name, but I chose to switch to my first name when starting secondary school, partly bevause I thought I would transform into a new person ( I didn't) but also so I could be Jo like Jo Bettany and Jo March

Age: 27

Location: London, England

SLOCs/children/pets/imaginary friends: Single(ish)- ex SLOC moved to Oz and we are in a relationship no man's land, no children (I can barely look after a plant). plenty of imaginary friends. I also used to have multiple imaginary older brother (I only have sisters and I'm the eldest). I had an imaginary land where my imaginary friends lived, and one day they would take me to this wonderful world for ever. Still living in hope...

Favourite and least favourite books and characters:
Grizel is my favourite, as she seems to me to be the most realistic. Am I right in thinking she is the only character who falls in love with someone who doesn't love her back? And her constant desire to be included and the rejections she continually receives just breaks my heart. Fave book: mmm probably the School at the Chalet as it was one of the first I read. I love Madge as the strong pioneering female, and everything is so fresh and exciting. Least favourite character: Jack Lambert. She is such a horrible bully! Can't believe how she gets away with the way she treats Jane- Len handles that very badly imho. Least fave book: the later ones e.g. Summer Term, Althea, Excitements - I find them quite dull and rarely feel the desire to reread.

How you got into the Chalet School: My best friend gave me the paper back 2 in 1 of "Trials/Ted" and "School at/Jo of". My sister and I scoured our local library for what we could find, but it's only recently through eBay, and transcripts-on-Kindle that I've finally managed to read all of them. I'm now trying to find the uncut versions (at least for the majorly cut), which is quite the expensive task. I'm currently loving World of Rare books and their frequent sales

How you found the CBB: Can't remember tbh, possibly searching for reviews on the books?

Hello Jo - first time I've ever come across someone called Joelaine, I like it. :D

Hello and welcome, Joelaine.

I like the name, too.

Hi Jo :D Your first name is so pretty! I've never met a Joelaine before.

I share your love for World of Rare Books: I just made a proper start on my own unabridged collection, and their current sale made my birthday money go so much further! :D

Thanks for the welcome everyone :D

My dad made up my name as a feminine of "Joel" (after my grandfather's). Confusingly pronounced Jo-uh-lene (spelling is not my dad's strong point!!)
