What a briliant idea :D By a happy coincidence I am already planning to come to Europe around this time (starting with the Achensee, naturally) & I would welcome the opportunity to meet other CBBers.
If there's an Australian one on a separate weekend, I'll be at that too.
I don't usually plan this far ahead, but on this occasion, well...

Despite the aspersions cast (by Kathy) on my LOVELY moose song (which, by the way, I'm teaching my two year old nephew), I loved the three Gathers that I was able to make it to (a lot considering I live on the other side of the Atlantic).

For the nervous folks - I can well understand your fear. I remember calling Kathye from Heathrow airport and wondering just what I was getting into (and remembering all I had been told about not getting to cars with strangers!).

Just been catching up on all this and MK is a great venue but I'm biased as I live there!

There is a coach station - brand new - beside the M1 J14 and local buses to the centre. BTW all the roundabouts now have names - and sponsorship!

I don't have a spare room but I have a floor for anyone who wants if they have a sleeping bag. I've had to sleep on it before now and it was fine. Might even squeeze two of you in.

I do think it is a brilliant idea...just can't believe it is that long ago!

Wherever is chosen is likely to be a long way for at least some people and whilst I'd prefer somewhere a bit further North, I know there others who could do with somewhere a bit further South. I normally consider MK too far, but for something like the 10th anniversary, well it is a bit special isn't it!

I love the fact that we have a long notice of the date, which will hopefully mean we have time to encourage a lot more than usual people to come, both old and new and to arrange something really special for the day/weekend.

The idea of having a day for the main event, but then extending for those who can/want/need does make it very acessible, esp for any who still fear we are a bunch of White Slave Traders...and given the fact that when I walked into that very first gather I was greeted by name even though no one had ever seen me before, or seen a photo of me, could still be a worry!

May I enquire about the words to your lovely moose song Spoot? I have a reason for asking which, depending on what they are, may be revealed in due course

Your wish is my command...

There was a moose
He liked to drink a lot of juice
There was moose
He liked to drink a lot of juice

Chorus: Singing Way-oh, way-oh
Way-oh way-oh way-oh way-oh
Way-oh, way-oh!
Way-oh way-oh way-oh way-oh

His name was Fred
He liked to drink his juice in bed
His name was Fred
He liked to drink his juice in bed
(Chorus)

He drank his juice with care
But he spilt some on his hair
He drank his juice with care
But he spilt some on his hair
(Chorus)

Now there's a moose,
On the loose,
Full of Juice

I actually found some You Tube videos - though there seems to be a lot of slight differences in tune and actions.

All those people who are thinking of coming to MK for the 10th celebrations, you could come to the Robin Hole Gather (nearish Leeds and very good train links with the rest of the country) over the weekend of 7-9th October and practice gathering in readiness

See the threads in Kaffee und Kuchen for more details.

I know it's still very early for this but I really want to come and think I can swing it finance wise. But I have to apply for leave to come and as it's likely to be during term time (at least in Australia) I will have to apply for leave. Even it by some miracle it ends up during holidays I will still want to take some leave (I have about 20 weeks of long service leave accumulated and would like to take a term off) as it is a long way to fly for only a couple of weeks. The catch is at our school we have to apply about a year in advance and it's basically first in best dressed. There have been talks of Feb, which would be term one or April, which would be term two. Feb worries me as it would be really cold and would mean I would have to pack lots of warm clothes and then y suitcase would be full and I couldn't go shopping. :( If we could at least pin down a time of year then I would be able to apply for the leave earlier rather than later.

It would be amazing if you could come! We're still ironing out the logistical details but as soon as we have a good idea of dates, they'll go up on the board!

Was just thinking Milton Keynes sounds ideal - then remembered I hopefully won't be where I am now in a year's time  but who knows I might still be brave...

and I know some more moose verses!

Are getting close to the stage of having a date yet or a poll to choose the date?

I would certainly attempt to come down to MK - might have to do some sort of UK tour at the same time, there is lots of places I'd love to go and see that I've never been to before.

Bookings for next year haven't opened yet so we don't have a definite date yet but should be able to provide more info in the next couple of weeks.

I'm guessing you have to be 18 to come yes? Not that you'd probably want a 17 year old around anyway...

This is probably a silly question but would you be 18 by then?
