For lovers of historical novels, there are a number of books by Anya Seton (not to be confused with Anna Sewell of Black Beauty fame) on at 99pence at the moment.

She was very well-known in her day, and her books are well-researched.

She was Green Darkness author, wasn't she? Don't know if I'd like it as much now, but that was a favourite book of mine for a while when it came out...

My aunt gave me Derwentwater for my 21st; loved it, wonder which shelf it's hiding on? Also remember The Winthrop Woman which I liked. Must check the 99ps

Yes, though sadly that one is still at £5.99. I have Katherine in paperback but sadly in the CR. I might try The Winthrop Woman.

Sorry to spree, but for Heyer lovers there is one on offer in the Romance Sale on Kindle (doubtless in honour of St Valentine's Day - I wonder if the CS girls did as we did at boarding school, and sent Valentines to their role models?).

It's the delightful The Convenient Marriage, one of my favourites.

Lindsay Davis's Falco series seem to be 99p each today - at least the first few, if anyone is waiting to try them ...

ETA - it's TODAY ONLY and the first 10 titles in the series at 99p each

I must admit I have never heard of Lindsay Davis. Have picked up the first two to add to my to-read pile. Thanks

It's very tempting to get them even though I have read most of them several times. Also the Priscilla Royal ones look interesting. Has anyone read them?

I've bought the first Falco and the first Priscilla Royal, and the first three of Ann Cleeves' Shetland books are 99p today too so I bought the second and third ones.

I have no willpower and I have lots of Amazon gift cards!

What a sensible man.....some flowers would be nice but books last so much longer. I hope you are feeling a lot better now.

Thanks for that - we've just downloaded them to my husband's Kindle.

I'm glad you're getting better, Janice - what a good idea to have Amazon vouchers instead of flowers.

Grrr, sorry I missed that Falco sale. I've enjoyed them on radio but haven't read any of them. I saw the author at an event at Bloody Scotland (crime fiction festival) last year and she was absolutely lovely and very funny.
