Et moi.

I find it helps wth social media to sit down and plan my posts, and then post several at once to a page rather than attempting spontaneity. It can feel like such a chore.

I clicked on it to be told that I had bought it two years ago. So I bought the other two books on offer instead

Sorry, spreeing again but don't see how I can avoid it on this thread! Philip Pullman's Dark Materials Trilogy are today's Daily Deal at 99pence each.....

It's so long since I had them from the library I think maybe I need to take them!

Oh no - I treated myself to them as a birthday present!
But what an excellent price :D

The Kindle October sale is up and I suspect Noreen might like us to know that Volume One of Anthony Powell's Dance to the Music of Time, which contains the first three novels, is there for £1.99.

Also Julie Welch's true take on boarding school life in the early 1960s Too Marvellous for Words is there at 99pence. I have taken it to compare with my own experiences!

Ursula Bloom's book, Youth at the Gate, might be interesting, perhaps reflecting what Madge's life might have been had she been a little older. Or are they contemporaries?

Has anyone read Sophie Cleverley's Scarlet and Ivy series? Number 3 is there at £1.49 and others are available at not much more. Not sure whether to try number 1....

Anyone into Genevieve Cogman's Invisible Library series - I couldn't get into the first, so haven't pursued them - may be interested that vol 2 Masked City is down to £1.19

Interesting you couldn't get into it Ruth. I couldn't either, though on the face of it the first book should have appealed greatly....

I don't think I'll risk the second one yet - the first is waiting to be read, but I've heard such mixed recommendations that it's hard to be sure whether or not I'll enjoy it!

ETA: I see that a few of the British Library's Crime Classics series are in the monthly deal too:

Mystery in the Channel by Freeman Wills Crofts
Secret of High Eldersham by Miles Burton
The Cheltenham Square Murder by John Bude
Death of a Busybody by George Bellairs

The three 'Lady Hardcastle' books by T. E. Kinsey are also at £1 this month.

Well, we do have a copy at this end, but I've posted the happy news to the APList, so others can take advantage if they wish. Thank you very much, cestina!

They are quite fun for a very undemanding read....

Thanks, Abbey - I've just got those for my husband.

I absolutely love the invisible library series. Was a bit doubtful at first but suddenly clicked. Have ordered book four, out in December.

I read the first one and it was quite enjoyable, though it had a fairly unbelievable story line. Not sure I liked it enough to purchase the others though, much prefer Murders Most Unladylike!

Thanks Mrs Helston. I might try just one and see how I like it. I didn't much like Murders Most Unladylike actually :(

ETA Do you ever feel that the Kindle Daily Deals are designed to tip you into the deepest of depressions?
Today's offerings are a case in point!

(Into Thin Air, Bluebirds and Little Girl Lost for those who reach the link too late :) )

Think the deals and this thread definitely tip my bank account into deepest of depressions! But agree "light-hearted" doesn't seem to be vibe they are going for

3 of Diana Wynne Jones down to 99p each today - Eight Days of Luke, Conrad's Fate, and Stopping for a Spell [this last is for younger readers.]

Ohhh, that's tempting... I really want DWJ's books in physical form, but I'm not sure I can resist!

Cestina, I wonder that too sometimes! Same with Audible's Daily Deals - a disproportionately high percentage of them seem to be gritty and terrifying-looking thrillers.
