I've already got that - and Tale of Time City, which I see is also down at 99p - and I find Merlin Conspiracy is now 99p, too, which I didn't have on Kindle and 'sort of' follows on from Deep Secret.

I've got them all in hard copy - mostly 1st ed hardbacks - but it's nice to be able to have them to hand to read when away from home...

Ohhh, that's tempting... I really want DWJ's books in physical form, but I'm not sure I can resist!

Cestina, I wonder that too sometimes! Same with Audible's Daily Deals - a disproportionately high percentage of them seem to be gritty and terrifying-looking thrillers.

Incidentally for Audible members Ann of Green Gables is 95p in the under £5 deals.

I am heading towards the rabbit hole too - especially as the book I want always seems to be in the other country! Though most of my DWJs are with a Czech friend who absolutely loves them.

And in the spirit of buying Kindle editions of favourite books - A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth is a Daily Deal today. Well worth 99p as I doubt I could lift the book now.

There are more Patricia Wentworth titles free too.

I can never make up my mind whether I like Patricia Wentworth or not...

The Autumn Sale is now on as well and this looks rather fun for dragon enthusiasts: A Natural History of Dragons. It's part of a series. This is the first and only 99 pence.

(I know, I know, those 99 pences add up alarmingly! Sorry...)

Both of these currently 99p:

Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch. Magic is real and the Met has a department dedicated to dealing with crime involving magic. Harry Potter for grown ups.

The Game of Kings by Dorothy Dunnett. Swashbuckling adventure in sixteenth century Scotland.

Both first in a series. Aaronovitch knows his London and Dunnett knew her history.

I'm tempted by the Dunnett, as I've had my paperbacks since the 1970s.

A Chelsea Concerto by Frances Faviell is free on Kindle again today. It and the sequel The Dancing Bear were probably my favourite reads of this year so far. I can't recommend it enough. It is a memoir of a Chelsea artists life as a nurse during the second world war, and was written within a few years of the wars conclusion.

At 99p in today's Kindle Daily Deal is Anthony Berkeley's The Poisoned Chocolates Case - another British Library Crime Classic.

Published today is the third A Very English Mystery by Elizabeth Edmondson, and finished by her son, Anselm Audley. A Matter of Loyalty.....

It's currently at £3.98 but is also on Kindle Unlimited to borrow for nothing if you belong to that...

Read the first three, now starting the fourth. It's fairly easy to work out whodunnit but she's so good on details, language, customs and everything else 1920-ish, that it's a pleasure to read her books. Remind me of Georgette Heyer's contemporary detective stories and - to some extent - Miss Silver, but not as snobbish as GH or as formulaic(sometimes) as Patricia Wentworth.
