Is anyone able to recommend some children's books about statues coming to life? A friend is a primary teacher and she'll be doing a topic on sculpture and statues and asked me if I knew of any stories about statues coming to life. I only know about the one in Mary Poppins so thought I'd try here in case anyone else has any ideas!

Would you count the lions in Mrs. Molesworth's "The Carved Lions"? I should go reread that one.... Also I think there may have been a relevant statue in Elizabeth Goudge's "Linnets and Valerians."

What about "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe", part of the "Chronicles of Narnia" by C S Lewis?

The witch of the title, has turned all sorts of creatures into statues and the lion, Aslan, breathes on them to restore them to life. They, then, join him in battle against the witch and her troops.

The Enchanted Castle by E Nesbit has a scene where the statues of greek gods in the garden come to life in the moonlight.

There's a Vivien Alcock called Stone something - can't remember exactly, though that's a bit creepy IIRC

I can only think of Thorne Smith's Nightlife of the Gods which is funny but certainly not for children at primary school!

Not statues, but stones coming to life in The Whispering Knights by Penelope Lively

Stoneheart by Charlie Fletcher - suitable for older Juniors - I bought it for my son when he was in Year 6, I think, and it's possibly a bit scary for younger ones. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoneheart

Thanks for the suggestions. She's changed her mind about her approach now but I've passed them on anyway.
