I just read this book and was delighted by it, especially the young narrator, Jean herself. I mostly don't much like first person narratives but thought she was very well done.

The author (name confusingly like the current novelist Joanna Cannon) is the mother of the three Pullein-Thompson sisters whose horse riding books I used to devour as a child.

I have just bought two of her detective books on Kindle Unlimited but I also spotted two more Jean books at silly prices, sadly not on kindle.

Has anyone come across them and if so ,are they really about Jean? I have been caught like that before and the brief description of More Ponies for Jean sounds as if it may not be....

I haven't read the Jean books but there are three including Another Pony and More Ponies. I have Gaze at the Moon, which I love, and They bought her a pony. Persephone published Princes in the Land which I enjoyed.

If you want to know more about Joanna Cannon, her daughters' autobiography Fair Girls and Grey Horses is worth reading

Thanks for the autobiography tip Jenefer. Have just ordered it...

I am pretty sure I have Princes in the Land in my Persephone collection in the Czech Republic. I will seek it out as soon as I am back on Wednesday.
