Just starting up the new thread...

I've just had a few weeks of trying 4:3 but it doesn't seem to work for me - first week not too bad but headachey on the second day of each of the two following weeks though the third day OK - as no further weight loss, am reverting to 5:2 this week so that there is more than a single day between fast days.

That's interesting abbey, that the weight loss is no different. I tend to fluctuate between the two, depending on commitments. I originally moved to 4:3 because I liked the pattern of Monday, Wednesday, Friday, with the weekends clear to eat. But that was when I was unencumbered by other things going on or other people to consider.

I must say, the longer I continue, the more I appreciate more than one day between fast days! Like you it's been around a year now. I think we started mid-March, just after we got to the CR.

I normally reckon Mon and Thurs, which fit with most weeks, though it's nice that one can be flexible when something crops up on one of those days.

I did indeed start in March last year too - you are right - joined the FastDay 5:2 site on 11 March 2013

You're just a week ahead of me abbey....Maybe we should go out for a celebratory meal

I've just been browsing the 5:2 Diet Forum and I think this is a really useful post for those just setting out on the journey.

I'm getting back on the wagon of the 5:2 again after a couple of months when everything went to pot. Weight-wise, now, I'm almost craving getting back on to my fast days. I've got myself prepared with some small pots of fruit salad and some low calorie meals. I'm going to try to not eat until my evening meal as once I start eating, that's when the cravings sometimes set in. Fingers crossed for my fast day tomorrow.

I'll be fasting tomorrow too, Amanda - black coffee, veg. oxo and peppermint tea - and loads of water - until about 6 p.m. We can do this!

Thanks Jo!

I've been fretting until about 20 minutes ago because my internet wasn't working - went through all the checks with equipment here...but seemed OK - but no evident problems - even more annoyed because it meant I couldn't see any of the curling until - thankfully the last end, which has given the women the bronze. Hence I have't had time to feel hungry!!

Apparently this diet has reached the upper echelons of the British Government  - according to an article in the paper this morning, the Chancellor of the Exchequer is now on it.

My second fast day was a success, and I managed to stick to 500 calories. I'm going to be able to do this!

Of course, I feel a bit like eating everything in the kitchen that isn't nailed down, but that doesn't matter much.

Well done Joey. My experience was that after the first couple of weeks my appetite was actually a bit suppressed, and it felt a wee bit odd to be eating normally the day after a fast day (although I made the effort :) ), so it might be the same for you.

I also find keeping a food and exercise diary incredibly useful, and I'm still doing it. I know that's sort of the opposite to how Cestina does it but I think it just goes to show that you have to find the way that's right for you.

Good luck for next week and enjoy the weekend :)

Yes, my third fast day! Thank you, JS.

I lost 3lb last week, but I have no expectation that it'll continue at that rate - I know it will be slow and steady!

Nice to get a wee starting boost, though, isn't it?

Good luck today - I'm doing my 'maintenance' fast as well today so am keeping you company.

Yes, the starting boost is very nice. Thank you for the vibes, too!

I haven't been feeling 100% today. SLOC has been fighting off a bug for the last couple of days so I hope I'm fighting it off, too! So today has been a sort of semi-fast day. I'll probably finish the day at about 1000 calories. This week that works better for me than fasting on another day instead of today. I am currently crossing my fingers for two proper fast days next week!

I have to take back what I said last time I posted - I weighed myself at the weekend and I've lost just over 2kg! For the last week or so I've managed to keep some control over what I eat on normal days and I think/hope that will make a difference. Fasting today, time for another cup of green tea...

I'm stuck again at the moment, about half a stone heavier than I'd like to be. Though that's still a lot better than 2-and-a-half stones heavier than I want to be!

Maybe I'd better try 4:3 again this week in case it breaks the pattern...

Fasting today, anyway, nearly time for my 'lunch' of a veg oxo!

Well done, Joanne, that's fabulous!

Good luck to those who are fasting today.

It's my fifth fast day tomorrow...

My mum has very kindly offered to give £50 to the local food bank and £50 to a charity of my choice once I've done a whole month of fasting. I was already motivated, but this is an extra boost!
