Been some exciting ODIs between India & SA.
Had a bit of a batting collapse and India won by 22 runs. Series level - three ODIs to go.

It must be boring - they are playing with a rubber snake and talking about migrating birds on TMS!!!

The only redeeming feature is that England are (technically) ahead at the minute!

And Cooky scored an absolute truckload of runs

Well it got quite exciting at the very end ... only to be flattened by nightfall... :(

That no-ball and the two dropped catches on the first day really came home to roost!

So...how much longer can Bell hang on to his place in the England team?

Cook has overcome his lack of form and come back strongly AND his captaincy has improved massively but Bell has been out of form much longer, the quoted "he got a 50 in..."s are all against weak bowling and where they don't matter. As a senior player, he's supposed to stand up when all around are falling so he can rally and give the younger/less experienced players a lead.

He has failed. Repeatedly.

His style may be beautiful but it doesn't work.

I haven't watched Test Match cricket regularly for some years, but I can remember wondering quite early on in his Test career - maybe 2005, when England won the Ashes - why Ian Bell was in the team, as his batting performance didn't seem that great even then.

I disagree. I feel Bell's bigger scores keep being made when we do need him (India last year, Edgbaston, West Indies this year. Unfortunately, he then fails when we need him as well. Inconsistent to an extreme. He's also the only other senior batsman in the dressing room, which I feel is an important role for him.

I think he's earned the right to choose his own retirement point, and I kind of suspect that he's going to after this series. Will be sorry to see him go.

The SA Test has finally become what was hoped-for.

A wicket that doesn't favour the batters or the bowlers, and the situation of "who's ahead" or "who's in control" keeps changing!

This is getting exciting - SA 67 ahead with 1 wicket left. However England are also capable of a bad collapse, so no cheering too soon!

Yes, got the last wicket now 83 all out ... let's see what our batsmen can do!

I realised that one of the reasons I prefer the long game to T20 is that I like bowling and T20 is all about the batting.

Oh, and T20 is too noisy for this old lady....

Well! That was a surprising result in the opening of the Super 10s in the T20 World Cup!

World Cup is shaping up to be a really interesting contest. No really strong team yet in my mind, given New Zealand's underwhelming batting so far.

I'm absolutely exhausted!

But most of us didn't expect England to get anywhere near the final in the first place, never mind coming within three balls of winning.
