Yes it did and went well. D was obviously weaker than his usual self, but enjoyed seeing everyone.

A bonus was that I met up with several mutual friends who I haven't seen for a long time.

The weather was terrible, but that didn't stop us enjoying ourselves.

Not sure what is next for D. Perhaps more radiotherapy.

Thanks for asking, Noreen.

I would really appreciate some positive thoughts and prayers for my mum. She is in a very bad situation at work - one person has already been hounded out of the place by the bullying manager, and she is next in line. She's desperate to leave but if she does she will have no income at all. She's trying to sell her house and move north, which will give her some income, but there's been very little interest shown in the house so far. I'm worried that if she stays in her job too much longer she'll collapse, either mentally or physically. So. Thoughts and prayers would be very much appreciated.

((Abi's mum.)) Bullying at work is such a nightmare, and when the bullies are the people in charge you're stuck: it's a horrible position to be in. I hope she's able to find something else or sell the house soon.

Positive work related and house related thoughts for your mum abi. What a terrible situation to be in at work - a place where we spend so much time in.

Positive thoughts for anyone else who needs them and continued good wishes for the recovering.

My thoughts too Abi.....

If she has been employed there for a while is it worth her getting signed off by the doctor? I got signed off once for "nervous debility"......

And then fingers crossed that the house sells very soon....

Am thinking about your poor mum, Abi. Having been in that horrid situation myself, know how it eats away at you. I was lucky enough to be able to leave and get a much better job in another school, but that was ages ago when jobs were much easier to come by. I agree with cestina; suggest she get signed off.

Fingers crossed that she's able to sell the house quickly and move up to be near you.

Thank you everyone. I'm really grateful. I did suggest she get signed off, but I think she feels as though it would be cheating, since she is still just about capable of staggering into work most days  . I'm just worried that she'll collapse completely before she manages to sell the house and move... :?

Please do try and get her to take some time off sick, Abi. I was in a similar situation at one office I worked in, staggered on for too long, had a breakdown and in the end never went back to work again. I think if I had acknowledged that I was being made ill earlier things might have been very different. Also I found out later that other people had also been driven into quite serious illness in the same office by the same people. Maybe if I had been more sensible others would have been saved the same pain.

Hugs to Abi and her Mum.

Janet is so right Abi. Once one is dragged down like that one can no longer get one's head over the parapet long enough to see what is going on, till one finally snaps.

When I did snap I was lucky enough to have a boss who despatched me to the doctor with the instruction not to return for as long as it took to be well again.

Sadly your mother will have to fend for herself but by no stretch of the imagination is she cheating by going to the doctor.

People made me feel that I had to keep going into work as long as I was physically capable of staggering across the threshold, and, whilst they meant well, it was the wrong advice.

I used to think that bullying ended when you left school and that workplaces would be like a combination of the Chalet School staffroom and the factory in Coronation Street, everyone being everyone else's best mate and going to the pub together at dinner and so on, but sadly real life is nothing like that :(. If you can talk your mum into it, it would probably be an idea for her at least to see what a doctor advises.

*Hugs.*

((((((Abi's Mum and Abi)))))))

I'm not sure if here is the right place but:

I have a history of (major) psychiatric illness and am now ill enough again to know I am ill. Am struggling, feel panicky, weepy, frightened, impatient and generally fit for nothing.

I have a psych appt but not until September and in the meantime have to admit to my father that I'm not well. This is also causing some anxiety as my father's wife is not a believer in mental illness and tends to think I'm doing it for attention.

Any prayers would be most welcome. I'm not a great one for pmming, but just to know people are praying or thinking helps.
