I am thinking of you FrauJ, it's a horrible time when you know things are going downhill but can't do anything about it.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Also sorry to hear about the unsympathetic stepmother: my mum and cousin both have a history of depression/anxiety so I was lucky enough to have a lot of family support from people who knew what it was like. All good wishes to you - hope you're able to get some treatment that helps.

((((frauj))))) Lots of prayers and positive thoughts too.

Update on D. He had a fall last week and was taken to A&E, but discharged after outpatient treatment.

He was in his garden at the time, but due to attend an elders' meeting at church. One of the other elders rang him to check whether he needed a lift to the meeting (D lives so close that he walks as often as he can even now) a few moments after he had fallen, so was able to call an ambulance straightaway.

Since then, D's dose of steroids has been increased and he has even more weakness in his leg (which probably caused the fall), so there's not much good news there.

I'll keep you in my prayers, frauj. I might even keep your father's wife there, too, in the hope she'll find some compassion for you.

Some rotten luck lately among CBBers, hopes and hugs to all.

Could I ask for some positive thoughts for my friend E, please? She's older than I am and had to give up teaching some time ago to look after her husband after he had a severe stroke. Her elder son also had a stroke, far more disabling even than his father's, a couple of years ago. His relationship broke up and he came back to the UK from abroad and had just settled into sheltered accommodation of his own when he was discovered yesterday to have died in his sleep, either from another stroke or a heart-attack. He was late fortyish.
E also has to keep an eye on her younger son who has problems and she's only just getting over a cataract operation herself.
Thank you.

And from me.

Thank you everyone for the support. I also think/pray for my father's wife (she's not my stepmother and wouldn't like to be regarded as such) because she also has her struggles, I know.

I'll go and amend my post, frauj! But the prayers still stand.

Sealpuppy, I will certainly keep that poor woman in my prayers.

Frauj I'm so sorority that you are currently experiencing some difficult times and I'm hopeful that in time, this too shall pass. Until then, positive thoughts my me to you.

I'm sorry to see you are having such difficulties, fraujackson and am sending positive thoughts and prayers. I hope things improve and life smooths itself out soon.

Your poor friend, Sealpuppy- thoughts and prayers for her too.

Please could I ask for some thoughts for my oldest son, who is having an awful time with his dissertation for his master's. It is due on 7th September, and he has just found that the result of a new bill being passed and a resulting change in legislation means that a huge amount of his research is rendered useless. He has an emergency meeting at the university today, but is feeling pretty despairing at the moment. He has worked so hard on it, as well as having a demanding full time job, and I think he could do with much moral support just now.

What an awful thing to happen so close to his deadline. Lots of positive thoughts heading his way.
