Not sure where to put this but I wonder if anyone cares to purchase this particular copy of Little G?

That's unbelievable - if this edition is published by Greyladies, it probably cost around 12- 15 GBP to buy new!!! Is the title itself such a rarity? I'm not well versed in the works of E M Channon.

That's one of those silly ones, surely - we've seen similar pricings for some CS paperbacks. I'm never too sure if the rationale is 'Let's see what we can get away with' or a mistaken belief that the book is a rarity. I incline to the former belief...

I keep seeing notices about roadworks saying Advanced warning. I think it should be Advance warning - telling us in advance something that is going to happen. Advanced warning doesn't sound right - how do others feel about this?

It sounds wrong to me, too - as though this were a particularly sophisticated type of warning, much better than a basic warning. If you have to use an extra word, it should be 'advance', but what's wrong with just plain 'warning', which alerts you that something is going to happen?

Definitely 'advance', if anything - an advanced warning ought to be one that's brought forward? Or more complicated/ developed?

I regularly type our church bulletin. Sometimes, the leadership wants to highlight a forthcoming special meeting or event a couple of weeks in advance. I always use 'advance notice', rather than any alternative.

I agree with others that 'advanced notice' is wrong.

Spotted a post on Facebook by someone who says she's writing 'a fiction novel'. Hmmm....

It always makes me giggle when I'm playing The Sims that one of the options for writers is to write a "non-fiction novel"

I also once read the autobiography of Wing-Commander Bigglesworth which must have been true!

Maybe they were referring to So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish - the fourth of the five books in the The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy.

I maybe doing the lady concerned a grave injustice but somehow I don't think either of these two suggestions would be her choice of reading. However, you can't judge a book by its cover!
