Yup, definitely! Cold is progressing nicely and most of the messiness over, so just hoping the cough won't linger ...

Glad the cold is improving, Abbeybufo - that's great!

Good luck to both you and JS for your talks - I'm sure they will be well-received and only wish I could be there to hear them. May I please be virtually included in your hug, along with Cestina?

Of course!

...and the talks will be published, as before, in a booklet - or so I understand, so you'll be able to see them both even though you can't be there.

Had a much better three days at work this time! And the one I was dreading facing yesterday phoned in sick - happy me!

Glad to hear that Emma.

My boss has now left :( Which means I'm now the boss, though only on an acting basis  Thankfully the rest of the team seem quite keen on the idea. But I'm still a bit scared.

Have emailed you both with the evidence!

..and thanks, tartan-belle, I was the first on, yesterday morning, and that was well-received, and people said it had set the tone well. JS was almost the last, this afternoon, and was an interesting, excellent and well-researched presentation :D

And my cold is almost gone, slightly froggy throat and remains of a cough, but feeling a lot better!

Glad they both went well! And that your cold is disappearing, Ruth. Mine is too; just a bit coughy and gunky now.

Ruth is being very kind. I was very nervous and clutching the microphone so hard my knuckles were white. She, however, was consummately professional and relaxed (and also extremely interesting).

I think you're both very brave. There is no way I could make a speech at a conference!

Grr.... I have just spent half an hour on my tiny tablet trying to cut and paste my new blog link as my signature and if you click on it it says the page does not exist.

This is not true - if you click on home you will arrive at the new post.

I will try and fix it when I get access to a laptop tonight....

What a wonderful gift - I'm sure it will evoke many happy memories of her life for Rose. Thanks for sharing both the word and actual pictures. Wishing her a very happy birthday; I'm sure she's thrilled that you will be there to help celebrate it.

Got pulled up for something at work today - I'm ok about it, but they just seem to be nit-picking at the moment and you can't do anything right at the moment. Hopefully things will turn out for the better. All I seem to whinge about here is my job, and I do love what I do - it's just another moan I guess!

On a plus side, that person I was dreading seeing was on shift with me today. I didn't work with her, but she was lovely when I did see her - so I think she knew what she'd done!

A month after I had all that trouble with broadband, my computer has died totally - something mechanical seems to have blown. PC World said to bring it in but that it could take 2 weeks to fix. I've got a working laptop, touch wood, but it's not connected to a printer. I know this is a First World problem, but I live on my own and get very sad and lonely with no computer, plus it's got all my stuff on it, and the broadband problem set my anxiety issues off really badly.

Hi Alison,
If it's under guarantee, I suppose you have to go back to PC World, but if not, I would take it to one of those small PC repair shops, where you might get a much faster turnaround.
