But there are loads of awesome women out there, I might do some shoutouts when I'm not hurriedly typing because I have a lecture to go to. :D

If anyone wants to support some of those awesome women there is a very easy way to do so today.

The remarkable Kiva organisation, through which you can fund small enterprises so that people can work their way out of poverty, has a special initiative today, International Women's Day, where you can fund specifically women's projects all over the world, but particularly in developing countries, at no cost to yourself.

They do need sufficient people signing up in support by the end of today to get the promised funding so the matter is urgent.

Take a look, sign up if you like the idea, and if you can share it on facebook please do so. Kiva is a wonderful way of ensuring that money goes where it can do the most good.

Nice and sunny here, too. Going to put my washing out when the cycle's finished.

It's great not needing to put the heating on in the evenings any longer. But I still put it on for an hour in the mornings.

This is the third nice, sunny day that we have had this week. It's quite remarkable for East Anglia.

It's a bit cloudy here today - though no rain so far.

Yesterday was much nicer. One of the first days this year that I've managed to get my towels, etc outside and dried.

I am a Social Justice Warrior, apparently. First time. Quite proud!

(Don't get how it's an insult - except that some people are proud not to have, or want, social justice?)

Ooh, can I be a Social Justice Warrior too, whitequeen?

Social Justice Warriors are awesome. Some weirdos think that progress is wrong (antifeminists etc.)

I couldn't agree with you more.
But very contentious debates on a forum (not a politics one as such BTW) between those who support SJWs, feminism and so on, and those who quite often vehemently oppose them, with personal attacks and similar thrown at each other, are not so great!

I have moderated quite a few threads of that nature since 2015, and infracting/banning trolls or whatever can get a bit tiresome TBH. It's also kind of taken the place of the activity of writing drabbles for me, which is a downside.

I've seen a couple of videos of "Brutally Honest Tweets from Women", and I love those videos, but I've learned not to read the comments. The first one set the tone: "F**king feminazis."

Call me narrow-minded, but I just don't understand how people could be anti-feminist. I mean, do these people just not want everyone to be equal?

I think some people genuinely don't want people to be equal. It's pretty weird.

Some of them have a massive blind spot where they think (or seem to) that everything already IS equal, and the various frequently occurring things that prove it isn't (some of which they've probably just been called out on doing) don't exist.

And they go on about 'PC gone mad' when what they really mean is 'boohoo, I can't insult and belittle everyone who looks a bit different from me anymore'.

And 'we have free speech', while failing to understand that free speech isn't a guarantee of a platform wherever they want one, or a removal of any and all consequences for what they say, and that the people who disagree with whatever guff they've freely spoken ALSO have free speech.

Yep. There are also people who really do think that we are supposed to be inequal as a society - that being white/male/cis/straight/abled/etc. is superior to not being that particular thing - or else they think that those who aren't those things are sinners and bad people or are making it up. And then there are people who really do love to hate on others simply for being different. And then there are incels.

Incels (or "involuntary celibate") are a group of whingers on the internet who feel entitled to sex for never actively having punched a woman in the face. Of course it's always the fault of women - they come up with the craziest theories about the fairer sex and don't seem to think that women are actually people. Here are some quotes from these people (and Sexists Say the Darnest Things collate these quotes now it has finally arrived  )

Oh good grief, that's hilarious and dreadful...thanks for that, Minim - I've not come across that particular line of thought. What I have seen a fair bit of is "I don't mean it to be offensive, so you shouldn't be offended"...
