The sun is shining here and I had a lovely walk in the woods with the dog this morning. This time tomorrow I shall be (hopefully) sitting in a plane en route back to the land of my birth.

cal562301: I'm glad you enjoyed your reunion. I don't even know if my school holds them. However I am meeting up with a schoolfriend during my stay as she is over from Canada to visit her family.

Feeling chuffed in a slightly nervous kind of way. I now have an editor for the forthcoming book, The House at Ladywell, and that means it's on the way, and that means it's REAL! Am at the stage where I think it's rubbish. :( It's contemporary romantic with historical bits, though there are a couple of historical murders - can't do without killing someone. Ebook out later in the year, I think, must check with the publisher. Eeeeeek!

Congratulations, Sealpuppy - I'm sure you're both thrilled and apprehensive at the same time, but hope all will go well with the editing process. Will look forward to hearing when the publication date is settled.

We're currently living in France, but going back in a couple of weeks for Dan's (and his girlfriend's) graduation and going out for a joint family celebration after the ceremony. They also went to the same university I attended, which seems to make it more special. :D

We may have cracked open a bottle of bubbly!

This is only a small thing, but I'm grateful for it anyway.

My bedroom door has been creaking very badly for several months, if left to close on its own. I'd tried my usual tricks of rubbing a pencil or applying oil to the hinges to no avail.

The other day I read a tip in a magazine that furniture polish did the trick, so I tried it. And it worked! :D

Silent night in more ways than one!

This tip may be useful to others. (Or maybe you've already made this discovery for yourself.) The article said furniture polish also made curtain rails run more smoothly, which I'd already heard, but not yet tried because I've never needed to.

I can vouch for that one. :) Such small successes are very satisfying, aren't they!

Congratulations to your son, Jools.
