Glad to read such happy news! I've been somewhat absent but I had a great time in NYC for work and have now got a new job. I have some reservations about certain elements bit am trying to not be overcautious and to be excited about the new challenges :)

My friends and I went out for our joint birthday present to each other in Leeds, yesterday. We went adult bowling and had a great evening :)

Thanks all and apologies for delayed acknowledgement of wishes! I was travelling in Central American and had limited internet. I won't actually be based in NYC - but in Switzerland :)

Even though NYC is good, EBD-Land Switzerland will be even better! Lucky you. :D

Sounds very nice Rovers girl. Glad you had fun Emma.

Personally I am rather happy because, after physio- ing away like a maniac for two months I now have full range of motion in my shoulder, well some of the time anyway. I haven't been able to get my arm vertical for over a year so am feeling rather chuffed.

Most of the snow has gone.

I do not wish to see any more, other than on the TV, until December.

We had more overnight, though they are telling us it will go tomorrow...

Just hoping that the man who is supposed to be coming to service the boiler - rearranged date after he couldn't get here in the last snow! - will either not be able to get here again, or won't find anything wrong ... but as it's a 30-yr-old boiler, I dread each visit ... not the ideal time for it to be condemned with an almost 70-yr-old and an over 80-yr-old living here...

My heating has been dead for the last couple of years now, hoping I can get it sorted out this summer. Last year I managed fairly well but it hasn't been so good this year.

Huge sigh of relief. Engineer just gone - he was even pleased we had an older boiler, as he has been waiting all day for a replacement part for a bit of his kit that is necessary for servicing a newer type of boiler, so wouldn't have been able to do ours if we'd had a modern one!

My best friend and I enjoyed a six mile walk in Wetherby today; ate fish and chips, and then had cake in Boston Spa, before heading onto Knaresborough where we had a look around the castle ruins and the town :)

Lovely happy news! From my side, the infection I mentioned on the griping thread is still not diagnosed but I've been given a broad antibiotic that should hopefully help to get through the weekend and to help me at least consume some food to stop my weight loss! Also, I had some help with packing today. All things are still up in the air but nice to have something positive to share today.

Sounds as if things are progressing a bit more smoothly roversgirl. Fingers crossed.

I am very happy because the magical ospreys are returning from their winter in West Africa and other deliciously warm places. Quite what they think about setting up home in freezing Scotland is a mystery but since they come back year after year presumably they enjoy the contrast.

I am anxiously watching the countdown clock for the return of my favourites to their webcam-monitored nests, and then I observe them on 3 devices throughout the summer months.

More boiler related celebrations over here. After three of the coldest weeks of my life, ours was finally replaced.

I had a two hour bath to celebrate, and emerged looking like a raisin.

Lovely and glad you have heat again!

Cestina, sort of going in the right direction. Let's call it ups and downs!
