Congratulations, Lisa!
I've just spent a lovely five days in Scotland by Loch Long. Gorgeous apart from the midges!
Last night, my friend and I went to the Andre Rieu live cinema event. Brilliant :) would love to see him live now.

His summer and Christmas concerts from Maastricht are our family's standard watching on German TV at Christmas and New Year's Eve. Must have been wonderful weather this year.

I've just been watching the Proms on BBC4.

I, too, loved Annecy when I was there a few years ago. It's almost like Venice in parts with the canals flowing between the houses. But do take a steamer round the lake, if you have time!

Annecy is one of my favourite places - and if you know any Elsie J Oxenham, there are several bits of the town you will recognise from her descriptions in Biddy's Secret and Damaris Dances.

Talloires, across the lake, is the setting for Camp Mystery - another EJO

Enjoyed a day out in Scarborough yesterday; digging holes on the beach with a four-year-old who insisted on putting sand on my trainers after she'd brushed the first lot of sand off them  We also had a ride on the speed boat, went to the fair, and the amusements :) Got home very late and though we were on the beach when there was a storm, it turned out to be a lovely day in the end :)

We went on that speedboat a couple of years ago. It had been one of my bucket list things to do, never again.

I have just been offered a new job and will be getting a 50% pay rise! I was only looking because I had a recent appraisal which was unexpectedly negative with my current employer; when I handed my notice in she was astonished and 'hadn't meant for me to take it like that'. Her loss!!!

Yes, well, that's another SHID moment (shakes head in disbelief) - I hate to think what her idea of criticism must be!

Anyway, more to the point, congratulations! *starts handing round YYYY* (e-glasses of bubbly)
