Brown Owl is going through a difficult time at present. Her mother in law died recently - she had been in poor health and BO was her main carer. Since then, the sister in law has been very difficult, she took over the funeral and ignored the rest of the families' wishes. There are also major issues over clearing the house............

:( that sounds awful Jenefer, difficult times like this can bring out the worst as well as the best in people. Prayers and best wishes offered.

I would appreciate prayers for my sister who has been suspended from work pending an investigation, probably without pay. She has no idea why, she's worked at the place for almost three years with no problems. I suspect it might be someone she was trying to help, possibly making malicious allegations against her, though obviously there is no evidence of that whatsoever.
As she isn't in a union she is going to the CAB asap, once she knows why she's been suspended and ask them for advice. Possibly being without pay is also going to be a huge problem as she is single and self-supporting and I'm not in a position to be able to help her.
Sorry, that is NOT meant to sound like I'm soliciting donations for her, I'm NOT but it's just I want this situation cleared up for her as I cannot see she has done anything that would warrant this and I don't want her losing money she cannot afford to lose.

Prayers and good wishes for your Brown Owl and her family, Jenefer - unfortunately death often brings out the worst in families - not so much in grief (which is understandable) but far too often in matters concerning wills, money and people's wishes.

Prayers and good wishes for your sister, too, RubyGates - suspension without pay would be very harsh, especially as there is no indication of what's wrong. Sounds like bad management to me, and certainly bad for staff morale.

Many positive thoughts for your brown owl, Jenefer.

And for your sister too, RubyGates. What a horrible situation.

I hope the CAB are able to help. Some firms do have nasty things about what they can and can't do written into the small print of employment contracts, but suspending someone without pay seems very harsh.

Thank you all and yes Alison, seems harsh to me as well but it seems to be the company policy. She said she'll know for sure tomorrow, whether it is without pay and what she's been accused of. She used to work for a different company but the contract was taken over by the people she's now with and they only offer zero hour contracts to new employees - it's that sort of company. :?
She's still contracted for full time hours though and she has full employment rights as well so that may work in her favour. I just hope her CAB will have someone available who knows about employment law. I live too far away to be of any practical help which is incredibly frustrating.

Sending positive thoughts to your Brown Owl, Jenefer. I agree with Noreen that regrettably the legal aftermaths of a death can indeed bring out the worst in people - I think it was one of my father's sisters who commented almost thirty years ago about a similar situation: "Where there's a will, there are relations!"

Also sending positive thoughts to your sister, RubyGates. I know absolutely nothing about employment law in the UK, but that does sound like unnecessarily harsh treatment. Hope she will find out more tomorrow.

Note to The Rose Garden mods: Please could one of you "sticky" this thread at the top of the page? I know the current Positive Thoughts thread is usually up there and this new one is now in danger of being lost among the rest of the topics. Thanks.

Sorry, I'm not trying to hog this thread but just had a call from sis. She said it's not her employer but her employer's client who have suspended her from working at their site and they are investigating her. Her boss is going to try to sort some shifts for her at other sites in the area so hopefully she won't lose too much money.
She should also get documentation on Monday with full details as to why she is being investigated. At the moment she knows nothing and isn't being given a chance to defend herself.
ETA: it doesn't help that she got to her local CAB this morning to find it's closed until the 14th while they relocate.
This all happened on the 1st March, I thought it was the Ides of March you had to beware of.

Technically I think this should go in the 'Happy Day' thread, but as I originally posted in here I am going to update in here.

Almost exactly a year ago I posted asking for positive thoughts for my brother and his partner and their newborn baby. Something (I am still not sure what) went wrong with the birth, his mother had an emergency c section and things for baby Daniel looked bleak as he suffered oxygen deprivation.

Today he celebrates his first birthday, he is happy and healthy and we think (95% certain) that he will be completely normal.

I would like to massively thank all those people who sent him positive thoughts.

I saw Brown Owl last night and she is feeling less stressed. There was a family gathering at the weekend which went off peacefully.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers
