We have had more snow, which I sincerely hope does not plan on freezing up overnight :( . It's all right when you get let off work to have snowball fights and go ski-ing, as the CS girls do, but not much fun when you don't  .

Just across Manchester from you, Alison, we had a heavy fall of snow early this morning. LOC had to scrunch through it to go for the newspaper.

Spare a thought for us in New Zealand with over 90% humidity - thankfully the sun isn't shining at the moment but I "glowed" buckets walking the dog and in my tap dance class yesterday!

Someone has used my selenite wand (like a unicorn horn shape carved out of gemstone) to punch holes in a cardboard box, probably out of boredom, and blunted it and caused a fault line up the side.

Someone is in big trouble with me when he shows his face.

Hugs to everyone who needs them!whitequeen, I had to google that - how fascinating! My GP didn't issue my prescription for two weeks until I called repeatedly. It got faxed to a pharmacy while I then travelled for work for 3 days. I didn't think to call to check it was all okay. I go to collect it tonight to find... the one main medication I need was never prescribed (despite a long conversation about this specific medication and why and how frequently I take it). I leave tomorrow for almost 5 weeks. I have an interview just before I leave and the pharmacist (who has been fantastic) only starts at noon. On top of this, I'm starting to think a backpack for travel was a bad idea... All in all, not a disaster but I'm very stressed!

That sounds most frustrating, roversgirl, and grr, whitequeen!

Why do people insist, when one points out something crap, on saying "but at least..."? It's SO invalidating. And usually the pointer outer knows the thing perfectly well but guess what, that isn't the point! Either that or it's patently untrue and unhelpful.

(Like in the autumn when I lamented my sudden and dramatic lack of ability to deal with any temperature below "sweltering", and some ninny decided to tell me that "at least now you can wear lovely hand knitted jumpers". Well no, I can't because a) I don't know how to knit, b) even if I did I couldn't because stuff like that makes my hands hurt, c) I bloody can't afford to buy myself "lovely hand knitted jumpers" - or else I could buy ONE and none of the large numbers of other, cheap, unattractive clothes I've had to buy so I can stay vaguely warm, and d) that wasn't the point; the point was that yet another thing is changing for the worse because of this stupid illness.)

Aaaand breathe!

We ordered a couple of meals from the CookWell range at Waitrose which arrived yesterday. When I opened the bag containing the the ingredients for one meal, I discovered that 3 items were missing. also the flour container had broken and everything was covered in flour.

On the plus side, I cooked the other meal and it was very good. there was enough for 3 people although the meal is intended for 2. A recipe card is supplied and it is very clear and helpful.

A lot of ingredients are in small plastic tubs which will go in recycling - we are trying to cut down on this. I think that in future, I will buy the ingredients in Waitrose to make the meal.

Broke my wrist which rather puts pay to any skiing for the rest of the season, swimming or cycling for at least another four weeks. Still on an up-note I can still eat chocolate and drink wine. :D

Sympathies, Jools! But while I can't think of an actual example, that sounds most CS-ish - did you break your wrist ski-ing?

Edited to correct spelling - sorry, Jools!

No. But it was fairly CS - went for a ramble with a friend. It was beautiful, mountains covered in snow, frozen streams and crunchy snow underfoot. We even had a picnic! At the end of the walk we went back to the car which was parked in a little village by a church. We walked round the church looking for a toilet (not very CS  ) and I slipped on some sheet ice.

Ouch, Jools! Poor you! But at least you have the scenery to compensate, even if you can't ski!

Our central heating broke down just hours before the snow started last week. I'd forgotten what a house feels like without heating for nearly 24 hours, and it took me right back to my childhood growing up in the fifties when central heating was rare and frost bloomed on the inside of our windows. Fortunately, we were warm and cosy again by the evening of the following day.

ETA to correct a very silly mistake!

I hope your wrist heals quickly Jools and that it isn't the important one (I'm afraid I can't remember if you're left or right handed.)

I can't imagine being without any central heating in weather as cold as it's been. Glad you didn't have to put up with it for long Mary.

Oh dear, hope it heals soon, Jools.

(How did the CS girls manage for toilets when they were off on their rambles?! Not to mention when hordes of them were having to spend the night in a herdsman's hut.)

Some of the older Mistresses must have found it extremely difficult. I know that these days most of my expeditions are planned by the availability of toilets.

Thank you all. I have to have a scan on Wednesday Judy to check they didn't miss anything in the x-ray, but it's tedious rather than anything else! It's my left wrist and I'm right-handed so it could be so much worse!

Alison I slipped because we were looking for a toilet not having CS bladder capabilities

Mary I'm glad your heating got fixed quickly.

Ouch, I broke mine seven years ago and it was a complete nuisance. Sending sympathy!
