Just watched the Querry/Wawrinka match. Was beginning to soften towards Stan - as several of you know, he's never been a favourite of mine - as the third set started, and we had shots of his girlfriend, and of Magnus Norman [his coach], and of his English agent ... but that show of petulance with the racquet reminded me again of why I'm not a fan...

Fairly mild compared to the way that Nole and Sascha and some of the others were stropping at the French Open - although at least clay courts don't get damaged as easily as grass courts do! - but, yes, I can do without the tantrums as well  .

Well, as you know I've never been a great Djokovich fan either ... haven't seen that much of Zverev

Great player ... when he's not having strops and meltdowns  . Nick Kyrgios is another one.

As my soon to be grandson-in-law is Greek-Australian, I'd really like to support Kyrgios [when he's not playing Murray, of course!] but he acts like a spoilt baby every time I've seen him. Did watch a bit of Zverev in the French Open, but didn't see all his matches.

Watching Cilic/Muller now and not minding which of them gets through.

ETA - always enjoy Queen's, as the white shoes and clothing begin to come out, so it looks so fresh - and the restful green of the grass after the red clay.

Sascha is still really young, hopefully he will come through what people see as being petulant. I like him (he will do great things) and several people who didn't really like him started to change their mind during his pressers after his matches at the FO with his banter with the Yorkshire press reporter https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... +yorkshire
Good sense of humour.

Nick and Andy are great friends; I think Nick was a little annoyed at having to play Andy, particularly at home and at his first match post surgery. Tellingly, this was his first win over Andy in 6 times (minus one win at the Hopman Cup). Andy has previously commented in the press about Nick getting a hard time from the media, much like Andy did/still does re:about that world cup comment a decade ago.

I watched the doubles last night with Kyrgios and Hewitt playing. He seemed a bit more balanced then - maybe because he had responsibility to someone else on court with him? He certainly seemed to be enjoying himself, which was nice to see. I don't read much media gossip about players, but I suppose the TV channels do choose to linger on the strops and it could well be that they pick and choose whose behaviour to show in a good/bad light.

The draw gods have put Andy and Stan together in the first round at Eastbourne!

I dread to think what they've got planned for the first round of Wimbledon. Not Andy v Rafa, please. My nerves will be shot to pieces that far into the World Cup as it is!

... and the winner to play Kyle! It's grim.

Stan vs Andy...and then vs Kyle :dontknow:
Doubt the organisers will be pleased either.

Meanwhile, we also have another all GB match up if Cameron Norrie and Jay Clarke win their first round matches.

That said, as someone else pointed out to me, when Delpo was coming back this most recent time from injury he ended up with some brutal draws.

Glad that Cilic won Queen's but pity Murray/Soares couldn't manage the doubles. Like Kontinen though, so not all bad!

I was glad when Cilic won Queen's. Such a talented player. I don't understand how he doesn't manage to go to the next level, results wise. Must be a mental block of some kind that's holding him back.

I'm incredibly sad about Rafa being injured again. And Andy still not being fit. But maybe at some point I'll write a drabble about Margot losing her temper with an umpire in an inter-school match ... there aren't a lot of examples about really bad behaviour in public.

I expect the CS response would be like that of the family in Noel Streatfeild's Tennis Shoes - to leave the stadium in silent reproach.

Watch some old footage of John McEnroe? A little of that stuff goes a long way! And I suppose even Nastase wasn't without his moments...

He certainly wasn't, Noreen. Even today, apparently, he has his moments, on court or when just watching. And Jimmy Connors was pretty volatile, too, though a little more amusing and not quite so vociferous. I do agree that a little of it goes a very long way...

Sorry, I meant examples of Chalet School bad behaviour in public: I wasn't very clear! I love the idea of Margot yelling "You cannot be serious," though  .

I know it's not CS, but you now have Serena Williams' example in the US Open final. I pass no judgement on her/the umpire's actions.
