What a lovely description, thank you.

I heard music by Hildegard of Bingen on Radio 3 this morning for International Women's Day (not that you need any excuse to play her music) and she always makes me think of Hilda with her beautifully controlled, serene lines of melody.

Thanks, abbey. There was a very interesting novel written about Hilda and her life not too long ago called The Abbess of Whitby by Jill Dalladay Clearly it elaborates on what is in St Bede, which is indeed not very much, but it really highlights what life was like for an intelligent woman in those times.
