I was hoping that I wouldn't need to post here but things at work have got really bad in the past few days and I now feel nearly as poorly as I did at the start of the year. I've not had any of the really scary headaches so I think I am still healing from the brain haemorrhage but I feel really rough.
I am still on restricted hours and duties (sanctioned by my GP, my neurologist and work occ health) but yesterday my attendance at a meeting about a work restructure was non negotiable. Fair enough but I wasn't told about it in advance and it was in the afternoon (when I'm not working) thus meant I ended up,working 8-5 and was really unwell all evening/night. It was als, pointless as we don't know what cuts we will be having to restructure around...

Today it was sprung on me that I had to be responsible for a new GDPR compliance document that was legally sound before I left for the day. This was the result of an email chain when I was in leave and I was the lowliest person in the chain but everyone passed the buck. It got done with a lit of help when I went to another department and explained my circumstances...

Neither of these things should have happened but my manager isn't taking me seriously when I say how unwell I still am, just because the fresh air I'm trying to spend time in is giving me a tan and hiding the bags under my eyes/pallor.
Tomorrow I have my appraisal - which is a new system that I can't understand so haven't prepped for thus more stress. In reviewing last year I did write that my biggest achievement was not dying of a brain haemorrhage...

Sorry for the length and whinge, the SLOC is supporting me but he's had such a rough time with me I'm trying to be positive, and my family panic if I as much say I have a pain in my toe!

Sorry to hear that things aren't going well. Is there anyone higher up the chain that you can go to, if your manager isn't being helpful? Hope tomorrow isn't too bad.

Commiserations Grembles. It's incredibly frustrating not to be taken seriously because 'you don't look ill'. Sending you good thoughts and hoping things improve soon.

Post-exertional Malaise is really kicking my arse, from going out and socialising. I was stupid and walked more than I should but ugh. Have barely left my room for days; have been in bed; hurting, tired... I knew this would happen but it's still horrible.

Grembles, sorry to hear you're feeling rough again. If you're not up to it tomorrow, could you take more sick leave and then explain a bit about this pressure to someone else? It's frustrating when people don't understand how ill you are, and anyone working on GDPR deserves a huge prize. It sounds like a nightmare. Abbey, hugs and fist shaking at Post-Exertional Malaise!

((((Grembles)))) That is awful - would it be worthwhile asking HR to explain to your manager that you are still unwell? I hope the meeting today goes well.

It sounds to me as if you need to get back to your Occupational Health people, Grembles. They (plus your doctor) are the ones who have the professional know-how to convince your management to take this seriously.

Incidentally, this will be no consolation, but in my experience, this is mostly what happens with post-injury/ illness returns to work. Unless you're a manager's favoured employee, if you're back at work, you must be fit!

((grembles)) I am sorry that work is difficult at the moment (I can attest that the GDPR stuff is  :bawling: ) and I hope your review goes ok.

Roversgirl, bizarre why anyone would steal clothes!!

Abbey, hugs to you too.

Poor you, Grembles. Make a note of what you've been asked to do and the impact it's had on you and go back to Occupational Health. Your manager is actively endangering your recovery and they should be made aware.

if it's any consolation, Sarah, I'm still not 100% recovered from the cancer treatments.

They do say that the older you are, the slower the recovery, but I get angry and frustrated with myself, and that doesn't help.

Thank you all for the kind words and reassuring me that I'm not reacting unreasonably. Today was a better day, my boss did take the time to go through all the paper work with me and we worked on everything together which was a relief. When I'm in front of her and she can see me struggling for words/ideas it is okay but as soon as I am out of view things return to the 'she's fine' point of view.
I only worked 4 1/2 hours today and am now off until Tuesday.
I am seeing my GP next week and my specialist in a month and I'm keeping a detailed diary...

It wasn't all bad however. Since 2013 I've been working on a project called Norfolkinworldwar1.org. This is an online project to gather stories about Norfolk in WW1 but as a culmination to the project we are trying to have 15,500 poppies made to represent the names listed on the county's war memorials. Today I got a delivery of 500 felt poppies from Taiwan. Someone had seen a tweet about the project and got crafting. It gave me a real lump in my throat!

Grembles; glad you had a better day. The poppies sound so lovely :) Hope things get better for you. Sending you hugs.

Abbey, sending hugs to you. You know where I am if you ever need an ear to bend x

Just dropping by to leave thanks for all those who have left me nice messages and to leave a pile of hugs and good wishes for people to take this coming week as needed.
3 days off work has restored my equilibrium if not reduced my pain but I realised I hadn't said thank you.

It's what we're here for, Grembles. Glad that a bit of time off has helped restore the balance, but keep talking here if you need to. x

I went to the small local hospital in Prachatice today to check out horrible leg pains over past two days fearing blood clot.

That all fine, tests completed at stunning speed, but to my surprise they found an infection somewhere in the body and have kept me in for more tests tomorrow. So bah to that!

Am impressed with speed and thoroughness and how spotless everything is but hope am only here one night!

I'm another hoping that you will be released from hospital on Tuesday (which I think it already is in the Czech Republic though it's still Monday here) that they work out what and where the infection is and that you make a speedy recovery.

Thanks for good wishes. The good news is that thorough array of tests I had at crack of dawn - all done by 8am - showed nothing amiss. Doc, who looks about same age as my 14 year old granddaughter, wants to do more bloods tom am and if infection departing I can go home before lunch. Which here is 11 am!

Very small hospital, lovely unrushed staff, decent food, free internet, comfy new bed and brought my own pillow. Just somewhat boring...

Beginning to wonder though if I shouldn't have knee ops over here?
