Have only just seen your post re Arthur, RubyGates and am sending lots of hugs. They snuggle deep in your heart, so that when they go, the missing them can be relentless.

My great-aunt died last night. She'd had a long life and was in good health until recently, and she'd only have suffered if she'd lived longer, so we can't be sorry from that viewpoint, but it's always sad when someone goes … and she was the last of my grandparents' generation on my mum's side of the family, and it feels quite strange that they're all gone now.

So sorry to hear about your great-aunt Alison. Losing someone of that generation is like losing part of your childhood. Easier said than done but concentrate on the happy memories.

Yes, it does leave a very blank sort of feeling. That was how I felt when the last of my mother's cousins died. Sympathies, and hope the happy memories soon come uppermost.

Thanks. It was for the best, because she wasn't going to recover, but it's still weird  .

RubyGates Just seen your post about losing your beloved cat. So very sorry. Very hard when a much loved pet dies as they are part of the family.

Alison. Also very sorry to hear about your great aunt. At least she is out of pain now but end of an era.

Feeling a tad sorry for myself. Going to a friend's for dinner during in the car with some appetizers I'd made when SLOC said that the boot hasn't been closed properly and could I close it. As a helpful wife I leapt out of the car, my foot entangled itself in my shoulder bag strap and I fell with some conviction into the stony and very hard surface outside the garage. I am now the proud possessor of cracked and scratched glasses, chipped teeth, grazed nose, chin and cheek and a couple of stitches in my top lip, which has swollen magnificently. However, I can attest that the French health service is amazing and I'm just waiting to be discharged by a doctor.
