Liss I'm not sure if this is the right thread or not but could I remind you that when the Board changed some of us asked that the line of "View unanswered posts View active topics View new posts View your posts" should also appear at the bottom of the page if possible as some of us use it constantly.

For example I only access threads using View new posts and as soon as I have read the latest posts on any thread I click on it again to bring anything new to the top. At the moment I have to scroll back up to the top of the page to do so rather than clicking where I have stopped reading.....

Many thanks :-)

This is a thread for the SDL. However, until I address that, can I suggest using the "Home" key if your keyboard has one.

Is there an option to amend the settings to show all of an author's drabbles?

Not a big issue yet, but as the SDL fills up more, and people add more short stories etc, it would be nice to show more than show at the moment.

I had a panic the other day when I couldn't find one of my drabbles, only to realise that it is just because it is near the end of the alphabet and not all of mine show up.

I would guess this is probably the same for Abi's or Alison's too ?

I'm trying to find a way to fix the coding; for the time being, as Kathy suggests, use the search function to bring up all an author's stories.

Apologies if this is the wrong place or if this has been asked before.

How do you add characters to the list at the start of the drabble (or under any other category than house)? When I try to do this, the one already saved just disappears. Hope that makes sense! :D

I have a feeling that I'm missing something really obvious here, but I can't work out what it is and I haven't seen an explanation anywhere.

Thanks.

Press the Ctrl key (and click while pressing Ctrl) every time you want to add a new character, and so on.

I just tried to adda drabble for the first time and it won't let me. It says the following:

Invalid Upload! File uploads must be in plain text or html format.
You must include the text of your story either as an upload or as input into the textarea.
Some of the required information is missing. Please check your input. Required fields are title, summary, categories, rating, and story text.
Your story failed to meet the required minimum or maximum word count for story submission on this site. Each chapter must be no less than 100 words long.

The story is 750 words long and I tried to upload the story as both text and as an upload and it still won't accept it. The text is in a plain microsoft word document. What am I doing wrong? And where do I put the word count?

Thanks

I'm not sure for all of it Fiona, but I had that problem copying from Word when the Mini MCE editir option was selected. In your preference you can turn it off.

Also it tends to work best if you copy and paste into the story box, on occasion I have to copy to a blank email / notes doc, select again and then copy into notes.

Usually if it is getting stroppy about the things you need to include, it is the house that hasn't been registered. When chosing the house you have to select it in the left hand drop box, press the arrow to the right of that drop box, then click on the house name again in the right hand drop box.

The word count will probably then be fine - it soubds as though it isn't registering your text at the moment, probably due to conflict with the MCE editor. It automatically does the word count for you.

If you still have problems, message me directly I'll see if I can help! I've made so many errors putting drabbles up I usually know the solutions now! And finally - yay for the fact you are putting a drabble up !!!

Is the SDL down? I keep getting the following error message
"A fatal MySQL error was encountered.
ERROR: Failed to connect to the database!"

I've tried using both bookmarked link and one from an update message.

Yup - I've flagged it to Liss. Hopefully it's just one of those temporary blips!

I posted this elsewhere, sorry. I'm getting the same message as Caroline. I'm using IE as opposed to Chrome (usual browser) but not sure that would make a difference.

ETA - Posted at the same time as Kathryn, sorry!

That's funny, I'm not getting it, either in Chrome or IE. Hope it's just a temporary blip for you all.

I'm not seeing any problems. Those kind of errors do pop up ever so often and rarely last long.

It was temporary for me, now it's gone. It was there, though.
