I have finally got all 62 books, after reading them growing up, got a few, then my daughters became fans and we have now got the full set.
My question is whether or not there is a list somewhere of what year each book is set in?

thanks

Hi Mel - welcome to the CBB.

Sadly not, because the dates never really work. School At was presumably set in 1925, when it was published, meaning that Jo was born in 1913. Things have then got a year out by And Jo, when Jo's going to be 17 later that year, because the Passion Play year was 1930. Then, in Exile, Jo is turning 22 in November 1939.

The war books can be dated to particular years. After that, as we know that the triplets were born in 1939, you can work it out by their age ... but that means that the final book would be set in 1958, whereas it sometimes seems more like the '60s.

However, there's KB's wonderful "Order of Chalet School books" list here, so you can see how the years progress in Chalet School time.

Link edited - should work now!!

Alison, that link won’t work for me. I’m not sure why.

It won't work for me either  . I must have messed it up - I'll try again.

Hopefully this will work!

Thanks, Alison. This is not the same list as the one I referred to over on Limegreen Musings. I'll have to compare. However since it's from KB it may well that my list is also from one of her GGBP fill-ins. To be investigated when I have time (ie not today).

As someone with a history degree, I do get very stressed when the timings don't work  , but I've had to accept that they don't - I once wrote a long drabble in which Sybil was a major character, and she seems to stay 14 for about 3 years, and then regains the lost years when she jumps from 20 to 23 in the space of a few months  .
