Thanks, Fiona - that's very kind of you.

Trying to be objective ( ), I do rather thing it's the best written of the three - Robin was a bit slight and a first timer's effort and Juliet (which is my favourite of the three) was originally a much, much longer book and I think it lost a certain something when it was reduced to GGBP-acceptable length. I didn't make the same mistake with Deira , and I'd learned a lot writing the other two, so there was much less editing required third time around. Which is always a good sign!!

I have to confess, though - no plans for a fourth book at the moment. Maybe in a couple of years I'll be re-inspired, but at the moment (a) I need a bit of a break from it and (b) there is no particular term or character around which I'm yearning to write a story... Sorry!

I managed to read my copy just before Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for a great read Caroline.

GGBP has just announced that Bride Leads the Chalet School will be published in March or April.

And rumour on the grapevine (or, well, word on the news page!) is that Redheads of the Chalet School is a forthcoming title. Whoop!

Me too, Redheads is one of only two CS books that I don't own and have never read. One step closer to the elusive complete collection...

No longer a rumour - GGBP have just listed Redheads on their Forthcoming Books page - due to be published in May.

Yay!I do have it in the Armada edition, but not sure how much of the story is cut!

Both Bride and Redheads are uncut. I don't have an excuse for getting the GGBP editions then, even though they'd look pretty on my bookshelf *sob*

By the way, the spreadsheet which says what cuts the books have is here http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p55m29bG0Nz9qL7tz9XVLXw

Just had an email from GGB announcing that A Difficult Term for the Chalet School by Lisa Townsend is now up on their website. Sorry, Lisa, I've forgotten your CBB name but i'm really looking forward to this one which covers the missing term between Three Go and Island.

ETA GGB are looking for suggestions for the cover design as they don't currently have one in mind.

Hmm, don't think I want to spend money on a GGBP of Redheads. I rate it not worth the reading..... :(

Though it would be nice to have a complete collection.

I was thinking yesterday about whether to order Bride or the Dimsie short stories which are now available although I have the Armada version of Bride and the Children's press version of the Dimsie stories but now there's a new fill-in on the way. Island was the first book I actually owned and for a long time I assumed there was a book that would tell me what happened to make the drains go bad so I'm going to have to buy "A Difficult Term". In many ways I like the Plas Howell books best as they are believable - no mountain excursions and fewer doctors.

I think I will get 'Difficult Term' which sounds very interesting, as well as Bride, which I have on order, and Redheads, which will go on next month's credit card bill!

I have found that even when the Armada are dubbed 'Uncut', for example with 'Camp' there are still a few minor changes of wording which change the ambience, if that's the word for which I am searching.

I'd recommend (is that spelt right? I can never tell!) Difficult Term by Lisa ... she's Lisa_T on here as the first version (before it was rewritten in part) was excellent! And Lisa is an amazing writer ... who is also as mad as a box of frogs ...

They've obviously changed their mind about the cover as at one point I think I remember Lisa was having to write something to fit a cover they had in mind (I hope I'm not going to get shot for saying that! love you Lisa!) but how they expect the general public to suggest a book cover when they don't know the story I haven't a clue!

Yay! DT finally in book form :D :D

Have to agree with Sugar. I'm really looking forward to reading it. Can't think of a cover theme though!

Wonderful! Very exciting news indeed!

Covers are certainly one of the hardest things to get right. I hope they find something that works. I tossed them a couple of suggestions, so hopefully they will come up with something.

Here thanks to Sugar who emailed and let me know that the book was on GGB! I'm.... not really very coherent, just... SQUEE. And more squee. Light at the end of a VERY long tunnel. I started writing DT nearly eight years ago - the same year I joined the CBB, moved into my house, started my PhD, acquired my older dog.

Those of you who read earlier drafts will find that it's very different - I'm sure that won't surprise Caroline, KB et al, but just so you know. Cover wise, I know which scene I'd LIKE to see, but I wonder whether it could be done. Hmm, something to mention to Ruth, I think. :D

Well I thought that the copy I have was brilliant as it stood. I'll be interested in seeing how it's changed - and deciding which version I prefer!!!
