Saw this - first 2 chapters can be read free then you have to join. Quite fun, but so far could be any school, no CS references in the first couple of chapters as far as I could see

I think it's quite...interesting. I rather like steampunk myself but the names are pretty wince-making - they sound the kind of things you get in teenager-written fiction.

And do you think he's actually read "Kai Lung" or has he just nicked that from DL Sayers?

Yes - I love the concept and enjoyed the first two chapters, but would probably wait for a complete book, and see whether it fits within my book budget. The projected pay-as-you-go total comes to more than a shiny new hardback, and there aren't many authors I'll buy in hardback....
