Hello,

A couple of years ago I read many installments of a drabble (I think at the time it was all that was available) which might have been called 'A New Girl at the Chalet School'. It was about Kitten Lucy and was really good. Plus there was a new girl who hadn't been allowed to read Josephine M Bettany's books and 'looked' like someone...

Can anyone tell me if I've got the name right, if the drabble was ever finished? And who wrote it?

ETA by 'all that was available' I mean I read all the installments...not that it was the only drabble available!

This rings a bell. I think it's a very old drabble which wasn't ever finished.

I'll keep thinking.

It was indeed called 'A New Girl at the Chalet School,' and was by Liss. It was excellent, but unfortunately we were left never hearing WHY Meg couldn't read Jo's books, despite much chanting for more. The last words I salvaged before it fell to the evil hackers left us at the end of Chapter 8, thusly:
Quote:
"The two Seniors nodded their agreement, then scrabbled about in the deepening snow for their rucksacks and anything else that might be needed, including a large ball of string that Kit thrust into her cousin's hand. Before ten minutes had passed, the Head Girl and Games Prefect of the Chalet School had disappeared into the whiteness."

All too apt... :?

I was right in thinking it was really old! I thought I remembered it being on the old Chaletian site.

That was a good drabble... I was always sad we never got to see the end of it. :(

Oh dear. I guess I'll never know why that girl didn't read Joey's books...

Shame as I really enjoyed it!

I did - about a million years ago - post a synopsis of the rest of the story, including the somewhat anticlimactic reasoning behind the ban on Joey's books! I'm not sure that it ever got saved, though. And to be honest, I'm not sure if there's even an extant copy of the original fic, anywhere - I never posted in on the SDL or any of my usual fic places - far too old!!! Ah, time's winged chariot... *totters off mournfully*

Thanks Liss :)

Can you remember what the reason was by any chance?
