Is anyone else getting spam "reviews" on the SDL, or do my drabbles just attract weirdos  ?

We got some on the Christmas letters and I reported it. Nothing on my own stories so far.

Has anyone looked in the members list recently? There are loads of weird names under each letter, obviously spammers. I don't know how many there are. I only noticed because I was trying to contact someone there. Is there any way they can all be removed?

Here or on SDL, Mary? The new members list here certainly gets checked through regularly.

SDL - I've just had a look at the members' list too, and there are a lot of very weird names on there, as Mary said. What is it with spammers :banghead: ?

Sorry, abbey, but I thought this was the SDL spam thread, so didn't specify! Alison seems to have confirmed it for me. Every letter of the alphabet seems to have a lot of very weird names under it - or, not names, just letters in any order.

I had noticed this yesterday after MaryR mentioned it here - I've just been back to look, and the member lists on there are all back to normal. Thank you to whoever has gone through and cleared out all the spammer names :D . I'm sure these people (I mean spammers, of course, not mods!!) have far too little to do and far too much time to do it in!! :banghead:

Sorry, Mary, just checking, as I know we get some odd ones on here at times, but they seem to get picked up and knocked out fairly quickly, normally, so was wondering if any had slipped the net ...

Members' lists on SDL do have lots of very odd ones, I only looked at A but the only recognisable ones are Abi and Abbeybufo. All the rest seem to have no posts but profiles mostly rubbish.

I expect most of them are made up of computer code rather than skin and bone and brain cells. Spam can get websites views and people money - this is why 419 scams and fake-Microsoft calls keep circulating, because there are people who fall for that sort of thing. (what's worse, 419-scammers use poor grammer and splling deliberately to ensure they target the most gullible and naive). You only need one person to fall for anything like that and you profit. Which rather sucks.

They're all still there, Abbey. Is there no way of removing them? It's hard to fInd the name of a bona fide member when there are at least 4 pages of names under each letter. We don't have that many members!

Think Abbey is talking about members' list on here - CBB - not SDL. That's separate, don't know who looks after that, it's not mods from CBB.

Isn't it Liss who's in charge of the SDL? Don't know how much she monitors it though. :?

Most of those names were added in a spam new member fest quite a while ago, it was one specific member I think that was doing all the review spam recently. I had the same, suddenly masses of notifications, and thought oooooh someone has been reviewing something, and found it was all spam

The user that was doing that then is called wlp and I initially reported the individual spam to Liss then reported the user, but not sure if anyone actually moderates SDL? If anyone does want help doing so am happy to if it would help. I'm on there every day anyway, so it would be no problem if it helped.

As far as I know, Liss is the only person who mods the SDL.

The problem is still on SDL. There are multiple spam members and reviews. I reported it to Liss, but the problems occurred with this Board getting too big. Is SDL in danger of the same problem

Doesn't Mia moderate the SDL as well, I'm sure someone said that?
