I've been meaning to ask this for a while: there was talk some time ago (I'm talking a few years back!) that someone was working on the term covering the school's second term on Guernsey. But I thought I remembered (and it's been prompted by the Joey's Wedding thread) that someone was also doing the school's final term(s) in Austria. Is that still the case or am I misremembering?

Pat was working on a book that covered Guernsey but I'm not sure exactly what time period. I think it was the period before the school restarted as some of it appeared on here before she decided to turn it into a book. I think Sugar or Lesley would be the most likely people to know if she left any plans for what she wanted to happen to it after her death.

The second term on Guernsey would be interesting and we'd see more of Corney. The beginning of Goes to It always reads as though it comes straight after Exile - "if one pilot can get through, so can others" (not an exact quote), although it takes place several months later.

I'm sure Lesley won't mind me answering this, (if she does I'm sure she'll throttle me quietly in private!)

Yes Auntie Pat's book covers the last few weeks in the Tyrol and the entire time the CS was in Guernsey and does include Joey's wedding.

Lesley and I were asked by her to make sure it was published posthumously. We have been working on it with her family but we needed to wait til recently as we all found it difficult emotionally, and although I'm not sure when it will be published, it will be eventually. However, AP had only just finished the first draft when she died and the logistics of Lesley and I getting together as well as not rushing editing it as well as making sure it doesn't contain any massive EBDisms has meant it's taking a long time especially as EBD has one heck of an EBDism in 'Exile' to cope with.

It IS Auntie Pat's book and as such it IS excellent, we aren't rewriting or adding anything storyline wise, just giving it the polishing she had intended to do, following her wishes and making sure what is published is what she had planned.

Agree with all Sugar said. We will get round to finishing the polish and I think it's a fitting epitaph to Pat's talent.

I think that would be wonderful. Thanks Lesley and Sugar for doing that

This sounds wonderful, and a lovely tribute to Pat. Thanks, Lesley and Sugar!

I'm glad that Pat's book will be published. :D

I have another fill in question. I seem to remember that Heather Paisley (I think she died a few years ago?) was writing another book that was to be called More New Beginnings At The Chalet School. Does anyone know if she ever completed it or what happened to the manuscript?

Heather Paisley is still alive. She was selling books on the CS Sales & Wants Facebook page a few months ago.

Sorry, don't know any more about the fill-in she was writing though.

I'm glad to know that Heather Paisley is alive! I must have gotten her mixed up with another fill in author.
I'm not on Facebook otherwise I would ask her about it.

Are we allowed to know what the major EBDism in Exile is please or do we need to wait for the book? I'm happy to wait if necessary.

The EBDism is in Exile which EBD wrote, so nothing to do with the book Pat wrote. If you read Exile you might spot it.

Just wondered if there's any further news on a possible publication date for this?
