Since EBD had been personally involved in Guiding, I wonder whether she stopped writing about it once her personal involvement stopped.

If this was a subject she knew well, she would have been conscious that she would quickly get out-of-date, and errors would have been very obvious to those of her readers who were Guides.

I think that could be true, but I'm also mentally grinning at the thought that EBD would worry about being out of date!
