To go briefly back to the pollen discussion, did anyone see the news about the pollen cloud in Chamonix? It made the weather headlines for a couple of days....

Our car has been covered in pollen for the last week or so it took us a while to work out what is was I also have to sweep through the chalet
quite a few times a day to get of the dead blossom heads and the seed heads covered in pollen that come in through the doors that are open all day
Nearly given up on the dusting what would Matey say to that
I live in the Orne in lower Normandie

Someone brought up chilblains a page back. Just chiming in to say that I got them a few years ago in 2013. I remember this cos I went to a gig in Leeds in March, and my hands were sore, and it was snowing. So sadly, yes, they are still a thing!
