I'm auditioning for Mastermind in Manchester this week, and my specialist subject is the Chalet School. I've got to do a general knowledge quiz and then I'll be interviewed and asked about myself and why I chose the CS books. I've got four backup subjects but the CS is probably going to be the one I end up doing if I get past the auditions. Has anyone done it on Mastermind before?

I'm so excited! A friend of mine was on a few years ago. She did Neil Gaiman.

(Mods - not sure if this is the correct forum, feel free to move if not)

Yes, it's been done on Mastermind twice, I think. Excellent choice of topic! Good luck :D .

Didn't Val McDermid do it or was that some other quiz programme?

Good luck Lotte!

I think Val Mcdermid did indeed choose the Chalet School as her special subject on Mastermind I have also seen her taking part in Celebrity University Challenge, perhaps 3 years ago now - but if you think I can recall which university she played for....

Good luck, Lotte.

I do remember a contestant with CS as her specialist subject perhaps 30 or so years ago - mainly because it was one of those rare occasions when as a viewer I think I scored more than she did or the specialist round! Good luck Lotte!

I always go wrong on the birthdate questions! (as of course did EBD herself frequently, think Josette has at least 3 if not 4 different ones!)

Thanks everyone!

I can't go into too much detail about the auditions, except to say that I had a lot of fun and got over my nerves pretty quickly, and met some interesting people. Also, I'm already in another Funtrivia team, the British, otherwise I'd have joined the CBB-ers! I recognise a couple of names in there.
