*looks troubled*

Only if we have parties no more than once a month...I love hosting, but I'm seriously knackered at the moment!

Thank you, emma! *steals chocolate, scoffs*

I am having a part-thesis, part-garden day today. So far I have compiled and corrected a table for my first data chapter and dug over a flowerbed. I feel rather strangely proud of myself, even though it's not really a lot to have done!

You should feel proud! :) that is a lot :D
Dad mowed the back lawn today, and this evening you should have seen the amount of starlings that came down for the worms once the sun came out!

There was a brief mention of the CS on woman's hour quite recently, I can't remember the context though. Did anyone else hear it?

No, 'fraid not.

I'm procrastinating from going and feeding everything - fish in pond, garden wildlife, cats and us. Would anyone care for a glass of this nice white sparkling burgundy I'm about to open? It will be accompanied by Coronation chicken sandwiches...

PS Have finally amended topic heading to reflect seasonal conditions

My friend in Aachen says that coronation chicken sandwiches are among the main reasons why he likes visiting Britain. I'm quite sure he would take you up on the sparkling burgundy too, Noreen, and so would I, as I'm procrastinating opening a bottle of South African Sauvignon blanc until 7.30, when it should be suitably chilled. Thank you.

May I take you up on your offer as well Noreen. My sparkling wine is still cooling and I love coronation chicken.

I can offer people freshly made wholemeal rolls and chocolate cookies. (I was procrastinating from doing my French)

You're both very welcome :D - and anyone else, of course. As for the burgundy, as the peerless Marmaduke Scarlett would say "Of that also there is an unlimited supply" (well, still several more bottles in the wine rack, anyway). Yes please to the chocolate cookies, Jools!

I appear to have used 'procrastinate' as a transitive verb. Not sure this is correct.

OED online seems to be fine with it, Gottfried, and in fact gives it as both a transitive and an intransitive verb.

Ooh, go on then. I am officially on holiday (for the first time since Christmas!) but am still struggling with university stuff so could really do with a cup of tea and a slice of something...

I have strawberries in the fridge, if anyone wants some? Sadly the last of the cream went into the remarkably tasty mushroom and tomato soup I made yesterday, but they don't really need it :)

Cups of tea, coffee or 'urbal/fruit infusions available as desired.

And I'm conjuring up a strawberry sponge as it's Wimbledon. Sponge cake with fresh cream and strawberries as purveyed by local bakers Fisher and Donaldson and Goodfellow & Steven when I was a child. Wonder if they still do… Shesings??

That sounds lovely, JS!

I have just sent an email from which I've been procrastinating for about a month, and feel a considerable sense of relief! And the diocese have at last been in touch (to say that they'll be in touch soon...but still, it's a response!) so I am feel quite cheerful, considering that I was supposed to be writing my thesis today and ended up finishing off my scraps-blanket instead!

Finn, how did your scraps - blanket turn out?

I went for a walk this evening to make the most of the sun before it started to rain :)

I have bought a fabulous and ferocious-looking orchid and a chilli plant today, to keep in my bedroom. I like having plants. So if anyone wants fresh chillis in a few weeks' time...

You can see it on FB if you haven't already, Emma :) Suffice it to say, bright, but my mum (I took it round to hers to finish it off this evening) said that it was quite earthy, which is not an adjective I'd have thought of - but I sort of see what she means!

I want to do some wall hangings as a new project, but I'm not very sure where to start - is it worth learning some more tapestry or embroidery skills, or should I sew/appliqué instead, or is there a third option I've not thought of yet...like weaving? (there, thought of it!) Anyway, it's something to mull over.
