Have you ever used celeriac? (my favourite vegetable)

Only once that I can recall, but recipes would be welcome. (I do use lovage a lot.)

Nope. I don't buy newspapers and I don't watch tv live. Online for me, all the way.

Is working from bed a wise choice for someone feeling a bit grotty, or sheer decadence?

A very wise choice. Bed is warm and snug and lovely.

Should bedrooms be heated?

In the daytime, if they double as study/sitting room too, yes. At night, no! They must also always be ventilated at night. I sleep under a ventilator. I've not done that before, but it's splendid.

Further to my previous question, is a kitkat for breakfast indulgent, or just ridiculously indulgent?

I'd say sensible - pleasure and high calorie nutrition all in one!

How long will it take my soaking oats to be ready to eat?

Are you heating them as well or just soaking them ?

Do you like muesli ?

No, I much prefer straight oats, soaked in milk but uncooked. I usually soak overnight but forgot this morning.

Do you like breakfast cereals?

They're ok; some of them anyway. I prefer porridge. Or sometimes I make my own granola, which is both cheaper and means you can put in it what you like.

Which is your favourite meal?

I'll take any meal that's free.

Because however rich you are, there'll always be something you can't afford!

Dunno; never been (able to afford to go) to either.

Because it's Friday and you want the weekend to start early.

Why can't we switch things round so we work Saturday and Sunday and have Monday to Friday as the weekend and still be paid the same???

Because cramming a 40-hr week into 2 days would be hellish.

Why a 40 hour week at all ? :?

Author:  cal562301 [ 15 Oct 2016, 12:51 ]
Post subject:  Re: Ask Another Question of the Person Below You

I think originally (in the UK at least) the 40-hour week was a reduction or standardisation at a reasonable level, because previously people had generally worked much longer hours. Depending on the employer, breaks, etc may or may not be included in that total. I went for an interview recently, where I was told that the contracted hours were 40, but they only worked 35, because that was what the local manager had decided. (I wish that more bosses were like that!)

Would you rather work part-time if you could?

For the last four years I worked I was part time, either three or four days per week. Beats full time any day - you didn't get as tired plus you were better rested for the days you did work.
