Even in her sixties, Miss Annersley's eyes had never yet needed glasses...people just thought it eccentric that she always had her desk lamp on, and didn't notice the magnifying glass among her pens...

ETA She developed a particular aversion to italic print.

(and yes, this is from experience!)

"I've got a great idea for the Staff Evening," announced the Head Girl, "Pole-dancing!"
"Tequila slammers as usual?" queried the Games Prefect.

"I'm far too tired to teach today," sighed Kathie Ferrars. "I think I will just bung on a DVD this lesson."

The other mistresses sniggered, they'd all been doing this for years.

Mine actually were...

"Make sure it's in French though, Kathie," Nancy reminded her. "After all, it is French day today."

"And I have books about the Marquis de Sade," Matey said, surprising no-one.

'Perhaps they might all like to watch 'Les Liaisons Dangereuses' said Mlle de Lachenais, thoughtfully.

A certain edge when she spoke of Mrs Maynard, certainly, but, after all, not everyone could love Joey.

"I wouldn't worry anyway," Sharlie said, glancing out of the window. "The sun's out, so we'll all be going down to Interlaken for the day. So long as none of the little darlings fall in the lake when there isn't a doctor around, there shouldn't be any need to worry about anything."

Secretly Sharlie was getting impatient about the lack of accidents and doctors they'd been having lately. She didn't want to teach on the Platz forever and was seriously considering pushing one of the girls in when the opportuity presented.

Miss Maynard was surprised to discover that 'escort duties' had nothing to do with seeing the girls safely back to school.

"I rang the Sparrowhawk Family Centre and they will send a Social Worker to talk to Margot". Rosalie said to Hilda. "Her name is Clare Barker"

The Triplets were in the depths of despair when they heard that Joey had been accepted as a contestant on "Come Dine With Me" and that she insisted on doing all the cooking herself.

Jack had retired to the study to check on his insurance.

I like the drabble where Jack screws pretty much every woman he comes across, myself...

ETA: "I was rereading some of my old stories the other day," Con Maynard said. "And I think that Mamma must have been feeding me drugs hidden in my food or something,"

"Madge!" Joey burst into the headmistresses's office. "Grizel has gone to climb the Tiernjoch! Maybe we should ask some of the locals for help?"

"What?" Madge gasped. "And you chose to waste time coming here to tell me, rather than rushing off and helping her yourself? Oh Joey, you are a silly child!"

or

"Madge, you won't believe this!" Joey erupted into her sister's office. "Simone has only gone off to climb the Tiernjoch!"

"Really?" Madge looked impressed. "Well good for her! It's about time that young lady grew a spine. I shall have Marie prepare a celebratory feast for when she returns."
