I was reading the Chalet School Companion and learnt that EBD left a huge historical piece (not sure if a novel or a non-fiction) about St/Sir Thomas More and his family and also two books of poetry, of which I think at least some has been published by the NCC in a book. I have it somewhere. I wonder why nobody has ever thought about publishing the Thomas More manuscript?

Another thing I'd quite like to read are EBD's letters.

I understand Helen McLelland had all EBD's papers; I wonder what happened to them? Anyone know?

I haven't a clue, but I'd quite like to read the Thomas More stuff too :D .

Her letters could provide some interesting insights - and some answers to the questions posed on The-CBB.

I know Chloe Rutherford was EBD's literary executor, but I think that was only for her books (Chloe is Phyllis Mathewman's niece.) If Helen McLelland had all EBD's papers, etc. it's possible that someone on the New Chalet Club Executive, perhaps Carol Mee, might know what happened to them after Helen's death. It's not impossible they've been deposited at somewhere like the British Library.

I'd love to see her papers. Do you think Joy W would know Elder? I'm seeing her next week I think.

Well worth asking Joy, I'd say. She will probably have an idea of who would know, if she doesn't know herself. I think she edited the book of poems that NCC published, didn't she?

Yes I think Joy would know - don't know if she reads CBB, I've just sent her a link to this discussion

Like Abbeybufo, I'm pretty sure Joy will either know where the papers are now, or be able to suggest someone who might know. Well worth asking her, Mia. A good idea to send Joy a link to this discussion, too, Ivohenry.

Spoke to Joy. The papers are with Helen's daughters and will eventually go to Reading University

Thanks for the update, Mia - it's good to know the papers are in safe hands.
