Unfortunately the "power cut" turned out have been caused by Emerence flipping the fuse, and she was given a heavy punishment

Fortunately they had illegal access to Rosalie's very advanced (much ahead of its time!) computer so once they'd written it once they could produce multiple copies, which Matey believed they'd handwritten as she'd never seen what a computer could do!

Fortunately not understanding didn't matter because the concentration on the unfamiliar words is what helps the hiccups to go.

Unfortunately the attack of hiccups caused a sneezing fit, so violent that Hilda lost one of her contact lenses and the secret of why she never needed glasses was revealed
