Remember in Angela Thirkell's books, how Miss Hampton wrote about Vice with a capital V, and how much it was regretted that her books couldn't always be Banned Book of the Month?

A guaranteed way to increase one's readership.

I am just re-reading Brave New World and it seems to me this would definitely have been a banned book in CS land - in fact I'm surprised it wasn't banned in real life.

Probably unlikely to have been what Thekla was reading though :D

It was banned in Ireland in the sixties but availble in our senior school library and read by most of us
