I cannot recommend the following website highly enough. Packed with information and images about some of the more obscure or forgotten female authors from the early to mid-20th century. There is material on the Chalet School and other school stories. I warn you, however, you could lose hours looking through these pages!

I just wish I had ever book pictured!

I love that site- I have a Golden Age detective fiction addiction and this is a (dangerous) resource. Sadly a lot of the books are quite hard to source

Yes, Cestina and I have known that site for a long time - indeed I think she recommended it on here quite a while ago.

Yes it was me and a fair number of people followed rapidly....

I think abbey and I have done quite a lot to beguile Scott further into the GO field of literature :D

One of the things I love about him is that if you leave a comment he almost invariably responds to it. So nice.....

Bumping this up to say that the six novels by Elizabeth Fair, published by Furrowed Middlebrow, are now confirmed as comfort reading for me. I'm on an least my fourth read-through and absolutely love them. Warmer than Pym and less caustic than Thirkell, she is funny, subtle, insightful and a great storyteller. I so wish she'd written more. I hope there'll be more Furrowed Middlebrow books, though he's not mentioned any lately.

Scott posted two days ago that he is taking a break from blogging. Hopefully not too long - and that there will be another tranche of books in due course as well.
