You've all been very kind when I've posted about my health problems over the past 10 months and while I am still not recovered I thought I would share something I have achieved...
Since 2013 I've been involved with the WW1 Centenary Commemorations in Norfolk, running a website & twitterfeed, sharing stories, working on an exhibition - all sorts.
I wanted a big community project to commemorate the anniversary of the Armistice and went for the (unoriginal) idea of asking people to make poppies for me. I thought it would be nice if there was a poppy for every person named on Norfolks war memorials as having list their lives as a result of the war.
There turned out to be almost 15,500 names.
Last November I launched the appeal for poppies in the hope we'd amass a few 1000 to make an impact. The poppies started arriving before the end of the month and I started seeing them into displays - I then had the brain haemorrhage and was off work for 4 months.
The poppies kept coming and as I got better I'd spend a few hours a week gluing them on to bunting tape to display. Well we did hit our 15,500 (and then some) target and a local church offered to display them. They were installed into the WW1 Chapel on Monday and there has been quite a lot of media interest...we even made the Guardian picture of the day today!

I am so proud that despite everything I managed to pull this project off - thanks to the crafting skills of people who got involved. I've had moral support from colleagues and friends but apart from that it has been my project from start to finish. I'm so pleased with the result.
Sorry happy boast over.
