It just goes to prove what I've always thought - some of EMBD's characters are immortals.

I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but there's a memorial in Southwark Cathedral to Margaret daughter of Master John Maynard of Mayfield in Sussex, who died aged 13 in 1653.

ETA location

After (ahem) 8 years on this site, I looked at this thread for the first time last week...

Looking at various comments on various facebook threads, i have come to the conclusion that the CS fandom needs a carpentry course specifically dealing with the making and erection of bookshelves. I can't see Tom saying that she's been waiting for her partner to put up/make more shelves.

I thought you might enjoy this footnote from Urban's history of the Teutonic Knights:

"Historians remember Wenceslas mainly for his drunkenness. Britons and Americans remember him for the Christmas carol dating from the marriage of his daughter to King Richard II. Czechs remember him for throwing the archbishop of Prague from Charles Bridge to drown".

Came across this last night:

"In the doubtless immortal words of Mr Herbert Morrison, we must go to it"

(The Gilded Fly, Edmund Crispin, 1944)

I find "immortal" amusing given that the expression is so unfamiliar that Armada renamed "Goes To It" and even aficionados of the series are frequently unaware of the origin of the title.

I'm really disgusted with myself.

My bladder has become uncontrollable. I'm only seventy-four!

I'm wearing Tena Ladies' pants 24/7, and still feel unpleasantly damp all the time.

HELP! ARE there any exercises I can do?

A certain edge when she spoke of Mrs Maynard, certainly, but, after all, not everyone could love Joey.

Jennie, if you haven't already come across them, "Kegel's Exercises" are intended to strengthen the pelvic floor and the muscles surrounding the bladder, and hopefully will help your situation. It should be easy enough to find the instructions on line, or your GP's office might have an instruction sheet.

I recently had the parabola of my mind disturbed (to be Polly Winterton about it) by my neighbour - he and his wife are very proud of their new oak flooring in the hall, though they find it makes the space a bit chillier than wall to wall carpet did. So far so normal - it was when he added, perfectly seriously "But then we live at the bottom of the slope in the road, so of course all the cold air flows down to us from the other houses" that I had to maintain a straight face...
