My baby's home! My ten year old went off to her first Guides camp last Saturday and I have missed her sooooo much but she is home now, complete with totally dry face flannel and soap!
But she enjoyed it and had a lot of fun, which is the main thing.

My son used to come back from Scout Camp in exactly the same clothes he went there in - including socks and underwear. Clean pyjamas - still pristine, washing stuff (including toothbrush) - unused, teatowel - invariably left behind. Still, he loved it and made some great friends there.

Have had a lovely two days catching up with old friends who we have not seen for three years. We talked and talked, drank a little wine and laughed and laughed.

To all who have told me things would get better and lead to things... my hours are going to be increased to full-time! Which means I am going to have enough money to survive in London and have a bit of a life. Things are definitely looking up! :) and I think I'm going to celebrate by going to Bournemouth for the airshow in a couple of weeks :)

Congratulations on the extra hours, and hence extra money, roversgirl. Don't spend it all at once!

NIce to hear of happiness. :D This week promises to be busy with different people in the beds almost everynight: two youngest grandsons tonight and all day tomorrow; son's m-in-l and her gentleman friend both in their 80s from tomorrow night to Thursday morning; my youngest cousin down from Scotland with her 16 year old from Thursday morning to Saturday morning. As these are all people I love dearly I don't mind at all and luckily the beds/sleeping don't overlap. I'll just be doing a lot of bed-changing so will pray for dry weather as I resent using the dryer in the summer.

Thanks Mary! Sounds busy but a good busy sealpuppy. Hope you have fun with them all and that the weather holds for you!

Enjoy sealpuppy. I can see that in the case of the visitors you list that it might be tricky, but I learned, once I moved to the CR and found myself inundated with visitors, to leave the bed changing to the new arrivals.

Otherwise some weeks I would be doing little else. So they find ready-stripped beds, clean bed linen, and many pillows and duvets to choose from, and I leave them to it.

However I am just sorting the beds for my son and family who arrive on Wednesday because it will be past midnight before we get back here from Prague airport and making beds at that hour is no fun.

Not that it is much fun with temps of 30C inside either :(

Confessions of a slut - and Matey would have been horrified - but if I have guests who have only stayed one night - I air the bed linen (humping the mattress of course, ha ha) and put it back on the bed for the next visitors if they are only staying one night also. Longer term visitors get fresh bed linen.

Me too, lizco, re the one-nighters, but not when the littlest boy still has the occasional wet bed!

Happy! I collected my wedding dress at lunchtime. It fits perfectly and was very reasonably priced!

As we're having an evening wedding and I was averse to spending a fortune on a dress I'd wear once, so I went to my local "prom dress" shop.

A good idea, if you're not going to change the sheets between guests is to plug your iron in using quite a long extension lead, and give the sheet a quick smooth over so there is no trace of a rumple.

It does work. I've had people quite impressed. Sometimes I do it on my own bed between sheet changes.
