Name: Cathy
Age (ish!): Hanging on to the last of 30 with my fingernails!
Location (approximate - no actual address, please!): Sydney, Australia
SLOCs/children/pets/imaginary friends: SLOC -- Peter, also owned by two CBBers-in-training: Monique and Melody and a grey and white cat: Gandalf the Grey.
Least favourite characters: Joey (in all forms) and OOAOML (also in all forms).
Least favourite book: I don't like Prefects very much, especially the scene where Len and Reg become engaged. Say it with me: Ewwwww.
Favourite characters: Grizel, without question.
Favourite book: New Mistress: even though I don't like the way Kathie has to succumb to the charm of the all-powerful OOAOML.
How you got into the Chalet School: found them in the school library when I was in my early teens, read through most of them. Much later, when I was married and had a little bundle of joy, found a whole shelf-full of Chalet paperbacks in a second hand bookshop in Canberra and bought the lot. Have never managed to repeat that feat, much to my regret.
How I discovered the CBB:
Um, not sure I remember. I think I discovered the Chaletian and someone posting to girlsown mentioned something about the CBB. My curiosity was aroused. That was a few years ago now.
Other random facts:
Also a great lover of Anne McCaffrey's dragon series + the Crystal Singer series. Although I do think all the dragon books started to get a bit silly once All the Weyrs had come and gone. Sometimes it's better to stop, methinks.
I love: chocolate (especially Lindt hazelnut balls), Tim Tams, double Whoppers with cheese and bacon (from Hungry Jacks), Cadbury Caramello ice cream, Diet Coke with Lime, Mahjong, the mountains (but I never managed to fall into a glacier and snag a doctor), collecting girlsown type books (now there's a surprise), cats, babies (other people's), my family, singing, talking, making music generally, curling up on our bed with a few books when it's raining, Gilmore Girls, Alias, Star Trek Voyager, Kath and Kim and the BBC production of Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth in it.
I loathe: brussel sprouts, spinach, turnips, Barbie Dolls, both of the Hilton sisters (oxygen wasters, much), the current federal government and their loathly Work Choices (so-called industrial relations reforms), all of the teeny-bopper dumbed down pop stars and television series and getting out of bed on a cold morning to go to work.
I work full time as a publishing systems trainer (which means I get paid to talk, how good is that). My other "job" is running the music at one of the morning services at our church, which I love. I also lead one of the bands -- I sing and my SLOC is the drummer.
